Wow, that sucks man! Here, electricity is really high because Italy purchases it from surrounding countries. It's usually around 60 or so euros a month, which they bill you every two months.
Health care is decent, if you can get through the rivers of paperwork to get it done if you're a foreigner. They give you a health care card from the state and that's that. You pay a small co-payment if you go to the hospital, but that's it. Their health care system is actually pretty decent here.
We buy our fuel by the liter here, and right now it's about 1.15 euros per liter for gasoline. There are 4 liters to a gallon, more or less, so calculate the difference between euros and dollars and you'll come up with about 6 dollars a gallon for gasoline. That's the biggest gripe with people here. 60% of it goes to taxes as well.
