metal maniacs is cool sometimes. beats the shit out of metal edge, shit parader, and just about anything else you find out there, rolling stone, revolver, maxim blender, spin, any of that shit. stay away from all of them! especially the source, haha.
the only magazine you need is from canada and it's called BW & BK - Brave Words and Bloody Knuckles. the writers are so intellectual and uninterested in trends and bullshit (somewhat - wouldn't be a magazine if they weren't a little bit, right?)
www.bravewords.com. the most comprehensive mag out there. the senior editor wrote a book with about a million album reviews in it. makes some great reading with some great recommendations, but it's from 1997. The Collector's Guide to Heavy Metal. cool stuff.
Pit is good, too, but it's only quarterly (...the fuck?) so are Terrorizer, Black Hole (only extreme EXTREME metal) from Brazil, uh, i used to buy guitar mags when the good musicians were popular, but things have changed. check it out, you won't be sorry.
