im lookin for an inexpensive high gain guitar amp that would be giggable (albiet small gigs) and give me a nice prog-thrash/black-speed metal tone (symphony x meets children of bodom with some kill 'em all era metallica in the in the mix kinda tone) combo/head- tube/solid state doesnt matter to me as long as its under 600 and has an effects loop. thanks in advance

I just found this out:

some Guitar Centers are blowing out Vetta combos for $500. These are 150watt MONSTERS that can hang at pretty much ANY gig.

plus, you can upgrade to VettaII software for free

oh, and again, Mike Romeo uses a Vetta. :D

um i know this is going to sound stupid, but where is the nearest guitar center to red bluff california?

that link is for the SpiderII head, not the vetta combo. The Vetta's are FAR superior to the spiders.

Also, musician's friend doesn't have the blowouts on the Vettas... you have to find a guitar center that's having an in-store blowout. Also, the Vetta comes in either a 300w head, or 150watt COMBO. with the combo, 1the 2x12s are built in, so you don't need a seperate cabinet.

BTW, I own one of these combos, and have used it a lot in metal band situations, and i've NEVER had problems keeping up, volume wise. these suckers get LOUD, without breaking up. each of the 12" speakers is rated at 90w for a total load handling capabilitiy of 180w, so you never have to worry about the speakers farting out at high volumes.

Interesting... and I'm guessing since you're talking very highly of this amp, you can get a variety of good tones? I know Romeo uses one, but usually the pros have their amps all modded out.

would it be an overkill to use a 150 watt veta in my room at home.?ıf not 500 bucks is an amazing deal or should ı go on with my 65 watt fender.

150 watts is probably overkill for your room, but since it's all digital, it will probably still be good at low volumes. *shrug* get to a Guitar Center and try one out, that's the only way to know if you like it.
