Andy Sneap talks about the Kemper Profiling Amp

if you say so son , it profiles ONE channel of an amp at one time it is a matching EQ profiler nothing more but you beleive the marketing as fools part with there money

dont throw the toys outta your sandpit okay ,that is all :)

This is not true, your grammar is atrocious, you calling any of us 'son' is condescending and offensive, and please stop writing your name at the bottom of every post - that's what a signature (which you already have) is for.

Lol. The marketing has tricked all of us, we could've just used match eq to sound like Andy Sneap all along, I'm sure you already have it all figured out.

its funny to hear those remarks from you...being a contributor/praiser/user of the AcmebarBig headcase
when im yet to hear a DECENT tone out of that sim...
im sure all the "mesa/bogner/framus/etc" ampskins i see for that ampsim sound EXACTLY like the real amp...
just putting a look alike skin doesn't make something it sound like it....

Well it didn't work for me so I got rid, I'm just glad Andy has had a lot of success out of it and I'm also happy it's made many people happy. If the tools do what you need then can't complain.

....guys
please use the kemper discussion threads in the quipment forum for that.
THIS thread is about Andy and his experiences with the Kemper...
If you want him to comment on here and answer your questions itc, you'll have a better chance by not cluttering up this thread with bullshit posts and discussions.....

I know it's slightly OT, but just to clarify, I'm pretty sure the Kemper isn't tone-matching. It's more akin to the Volterra kernel dynamic convolution that Nebula uses. But I think there is also some extra stuff that allows the unit to capture the distortion characteristics on top of the dynamic response.

Ok...I have a question, which was already asked but there wasn't a clear answer (I think).

Andy, is there any chance you would do a metal amp profile pack (which, obviously, we would have to pay for)?

I guess it would be a bit of a hassle, but maybe just moving all non-related posts into the real Kemper thread in backline would help to keep it clean? I've seen many forums joining threads and moving posts and although sometimes it comes off weird cause posts are mixed, in the end it keeps a better, more organized bulk of information together.

I would definitely buy. There are many good profiles, but usually not with different mic's

ha, no I'm not sharing ;)
Yes I'm using midi to kick in lead profile (boost + delays). I know other guitarists running Ableton live and having that control the kemper for patches.

I'm also wondering to use it live but there's something that makes me feel worried about it. Does the kemper switches between patches smoothly? I know that similar units produce a silence of m/s when you use midi to kick in different patches... That would completely ruin the experience to me. What's your experience about this?

From the front panel switches, it's almost instanteous to my recollection. Have no idea about midi though.

There's less delay than on a real amp and there's FX spillover as well.

I know this isn't the right thread for this but since this video was posted here I have to reply here.

This video is a good example of that weird presence area issue I had with the Kemper. It does sound very "old Line6-esque". (sort of like the presence was lower quality) I don't mean to start the same drama again. I've heard amazing clips f.ex. the person with the nicest ballclap triggers has put out very nice clips.

It's just that when I made my profiles they had that weird presence thing which I can hear in this video too. Any of you experienced this too?

So it's now longer the lacking low end? Or, perhaps it's both a lacking low end and a weird presence?

My experience says that a Kemper profile done right (i.e. refining etc.) pretty much captures the sound of your recording chain. Do you have a weird presence in your chain? The Kemper profile will sure have it as well.

Hmm... seems like you haven't understood the problem I was having. I'm not going to go into that but feel free to read about it if you're interested.

To me those guitar tones on that Anderton's video have the same issue I was having so I was simply asking if you guys hear it too or have experienced something similar.
