Andy Sneap talks about the Kemper Profiling Amp

Andy said that he tweaked the profile to sound more like the real thing which is somewhat the same thing as "profiling was not 100% correct". Jeff I don't know what your problem is. I've taken count and this is your sixth "so called" attack on me and you also love to diss other people quite often. If you haven't noticed, I don't give a "Jeff" about your drama. It comes across like you have something to compensate for to make yourself fit the whole metal scene of the forum in ways like this but I don't want to have any part of it. Us metal people should be bros and homies... those Zakk Wylde stereotypes are dead and you clearly aren't one in real life so stop playing.

No offence.

He said he tweaked it for the specific riff, not to sound like the real thing.

My problem is that I'm an asshole and you're generally annoying with a god-complex about gear. I have no delusions of fitting into any kind of metal scene and I don't care to be your bro or homie.

Jeff cannot be match EQ'ed into your bro

You made a grand statement in a thread a while ago about me having some giant ego. It backfired on you with several posts from others immediately after. You have this ridiculously obtuse manner in which you present your "thoughts"

You didn't hear a fucking difference. You wouldn't be able to achieve the same results with an amp sim and match EQ in Ozone. If you could, YOU would be known by your real name and not someone else's (imaginary) alter ego

You're just kind of a twat really

You might actually have something cool to offer once in a while but goddamn if you don't turn off 90% of everybody from wanting to find out what it might be

To sum it up with a dash of irony ... a little "tact" goes a long way

Once again with the name calling etc. Those are psychological weapons in an arguement where there's no scientific proof. I said about 10 good things about the Kemper and two bad things but people that haven't even tried the Kemper somehow feel like they know better than I do that the Kemper is 100% perfect. Haha... this is not my problem really. If you want to live in the hype bubble go and buy the Kemper. I'll save my "I told you so" for later.

If I have insulted anyone that was not my objective.

Yeah for instance some people such as Andy fucking Sneap.

It sucks Lasse, but I see what you mean.

I will stop reading this thread since I feel like most of you guys are misunderstanding my point and all this drama is getting in the way of what is more important. I have scientifically proven and shown measurements of what I believe to be a fact: the Kemper was unable to capture real amp dynamics from four different 100-watt amps that I profiled. Instead it gave all the amp profiles the same dynamic range, which did not have that low end "oomph". That being said, those things are not important to all people and certainly not audible in all mix situations. The sad part is that it lead to not capturing the feel of these different amps either. In this forum people go deep into tone specifics from changing pre amp/power amp tubes and modding amps etc. At the moment we are not studying the Kemper with the same precision.

What the Kemper was able to capture was the gain level and spectrum response which in my case is nothing new. So the Kemper is not for me and I'm entitled to have my own opinion just like everyone else. Not every piece of gear is for everyone f.ex. you can easily find people dissing or praising the 5150 or Dual Rectifier even on this forum. Then there's the sort who have never tried a piece of gear and throw out immature insults at other people although they have no idea what they are talking about. That's another thing. That lead to drama hijacking the thread and I don't intend to hijack this thread so bye bye.

I finally got around to playing with one of these puppies over the weekend. I was both impressed and disappointed... If that's possible??? For the most part, the profiling process was fairly cool and works great. But when A/Bing the Kemper to the actual amp everytime I felt that there were just a few small differences that for me, would mean I'd probably use it live, but it'd never be a studio tool for me. The idea of having your mics up tone ready to go, IN CASE is nice! And handy, but outside of that, it still didn't quite do what I hoped it would for me :(

Having said that, still felt WAY more like an amp reacting than the Axe FX I played ever did :/ the response FELT dynamic and real, but I too felt the low end wasn't quite right. But I guess it stands to reason if we go with the same arguments with impulses etc

Nope it's not 100% perfect. Does it sound good? Yes. Better than any ampsim? Hell yeah. I'm perfectly happy with it but if you want the kemper to sound 100% you buy the real amp.

guys, I'm sure there's a thread about the Kemper in the equipment section!
This thread was about Andy's thought on the Kemper...and you've successfully derailed it far enough from that...congrats.

Its a great piece of kit for a studio.

But it will devalue fast because this sort of thing will be eclipsed in plugin format eventually.

I think my big thing in all of this is if it sounds fucking great then who cares. I honestly could give a shit less if the palm mutes respond differently. If it sounds tits then I am into it.

Needs a fucking rackmount version already, that's the only thing holding me back on getting one right now.

Exactly why is that so important? Doesn't pretty much... everyone.... already play shows with heads that aren't rack mounted? Just put it on top of the cab like every other guitar player? Throw a power amp in a rack and it's no different than the standard head/ cab/ fx rack. Maybe it's just me...

I have rack space, I don't have shelf/room space; hence why I want a rack-mount version.
