Hey guys, just wanted to show what I love to do 9/10 times I just "play guitar" for fun - put on a melodic, not-too-fast song, and just wail over it, which is the main way I've really built-up my improv (obviously) and solo'ing chops over the past few years!

As you can see, I'm definitely a wailing, bending, bridge-pickup attitude kinda solo'ist, so I guess I have more in common with a lot of the 80s guys than current shredding! Anyway, hope ya dig it, it was fun! (sorry for the faces :D)

Arrggghhh, it was doing that to me for awhile, but now it's working here, I guess it needs a few more minutes to process - and for those with really short attention spans, it really picks up after 0:52 :D

No youtube at work = boo-urns. Marcus, based on your playing description you would probably be into Michael Schenker's playing...if you aren't already \m/

Right on David  And Joe, I haven't heard much of Schenker honestly, but what I have has been just a bit too old for me :D For reference, the solo battle starting at 2:20 in this:

Pretty much gives me the biggest boner in the universe :Spin::kickass: EDIT: And Neal Schon and George Lynch at 3:12, hold onto your semen

Dooood, ya need to get over the "old" stuff in your reference to Pink Floyd and the like! :D Some quality playing out there. Maybe UFO would be too old for you, but he has a sick sense of melody.

Check out his "Into the Arena" stuff on youtube. He has awesome vibrato, which I know you appreciate too.

Wow, all I can think when I watch that is.... VOCALS. The fact that they used to do that shit in near single takes with no tuning aid whatsoever.

Now you've got the goddamn screamo kids who can't even hold a single whiney, christ-raping note without needing the Cher treatment.

Also, (l) Malmsteen.

Cool video of your own by the way! I was never much into improvisation so my skills at it always sucked, even at the height of my playing.

Thanks Ermz, and yeah, Steve Perry is IMO one of the top 5 greatest singers of all time, especially his fucking pitch - that album is from 1986, and the vocal harmonies on it are just insane - check out 3:40 in :notworthy (though that's a beautiful reverb sound too, which helps  ) That album is one of my all-time top 10, btw :kickass:

And Jorge, I wouldn't have it any other way :rock:

I saw the video on facebook first and commented there...I'll just copy paste my comment here too:

That was awesome. That's pretty much what I do too when I play guitar. That was an impressive improv, I tend to make a lot more mistakes. I would also recommend dream theater's "wither" (there's an instrumental version on youtube) as a backing track, I've been using it a lot lately.

Cool dude, I'll check it out  And Kimon, thanks a ton dude, certainly means a lot coming from a player such as yourself
