Your intentions are good.
My concern is regarding conversion of the lossy mp3s to wav on CDRs and introducing that into the trading pool. MP3 deteriorates the quality, unlike the flac format in which it came.

I'd agree with that, especially with shows that aren't of the clearest quality converting to mp3 nearly ruins them. Take the time to download the flac files people it is worth it!!!
