Hey all!

I bought Mabool recently and it's good, and by good, I mean totally sweet. I wonder if any of you know of any band similar to Orphaned Land. The most similar I can find right now are Melechesh and Distorted.

God bless,
Sepsis

if you like the band which use oriental and traditional tunes, i advice the band from Turkey "Pentagram/ mezarkabul" , i admire their works:worship:
and onother band from Finland, Amorphis, they also use traditional tunes.

Welcome in Sepsis:wave: .
I can't think of another band that allready been mentioned by you and sister Derya that is close to Orphaned Land...for sure you should try "Pentagram/Mezarkabul", a great Turkish band!!! :headbang: :)

I know one band that isn't really metal, but the style is reminiscent of O.L.
The Tea Party from Canada. Check out "the Edges of twilighht"or the acoustic ep with songs from that album "Alhambra"
They use lots of antique instruments on these albums and the whole feeling of the music/ lyrics is very oriental.

Have fun,
Morticia.

Thanks all. I will definitely try to hear some Mezarkabul/Pentagram, if I can ever navigate the page without being able to read it. And I will definitely check out The Tea Party. It is becoming very clear that OL are one of a kind, and that's awesome in its own way.

God bless,
Sepsis

While I think about it, could one of you help me out? I can't read the Mezarkabul/Pentagram page, but I have reached what I think is a registration page. If any of you could translate it into English for me I would be much obliged. Here it is:

Hey everyone!
Thanks very much for the feedback. It was a herculean undertaking, but I managed to find songs from both Lykathea Aflame and Mezarkabul. I can't wait until I get off work and listen to them. I will try to find some Dead Can Dance and Tea Party when I have more time.

God Bless,
Sepsis

No problem Sepsis.

The funny thing about DEad Can Dance is that I thought they were Irish as they have very Irish folk sounding songs and the singer and another member have Irish names. Imagine my reaction to being told that the great 'Irish' band that I was recommending were in fact Australian!

Thank you all my friends.

I haven't yet heard Dead Can Dance but I do like folk music. Mezarkabul sounds pretty cool, and Lykathea Aflame are a bit heavy but they do have some cool riffs. The Tea Party sounds a little too much like Audioslave or Rage Against the Machine to me. Thank you, cem eesti, for posting that link. I will be sure to listen to Thiela when I get off work tonight.

God Bless,
Sepsis

Dead can dance are amazing!!!!!
I love all the stuff they did, but you should really check out the Serpent's egg album or any of the live albums. This is not just music, but an atmosphere of beautiful hymns& chants. Cannot name any band like em.

:) Listen and open your mind to a new experience!

You got Distorted - the moest similiar band to OL in their style,
Some other Israeli bands influenced by Orphaned land :

Sitra - Progressive and melodic death metal - much like Orphaned land, their s/t demo had great feedbacks... Some know their song "Nevermore..." from their demo and confused it as a Cradle Of Filth bonus track - which is not true.

Kna'an - Doom / death metal from Israel - a bit more aggressive with no clean vocals - but still carries a great speical style in their playing - similiar to Yossi and Mati's guitarwork.

Blood Shot Eye - Now this is a band worth checking out. Imagine Dio meets Metallica (Black Album era) meets Orphaned land. Their demo from 1999, "Demolition" - is extremely recommanded.

And yes - we also got Amorphis - Elegy - this album quite resembling some parts of OL.

Welcome XdefilerX.

WOW!!!:OMG: too much bands named in here to check out...it will take me a while but i will sure listen to all of them. From as i read all the bands mentioned, sound great and worth take a listen to. Thanks everybody!!! :)

Dead...Can...Dance...words are not enough to describe their divine music...it comes from the heart of the ages...one of the biggest highlights in my consert list, watching them performing live back to '96 is a moment that still haunts my senses...:worship:
