He has 3 albums and they are all brilliant. So it doesn't matter where you start. In terms of contemporary artists that draw from Drake as an influence, try Ane Brun and Iron & Wine.

I'de HEAVILY recoment Novembre. They're not well know, but they sound like they could be as well known as Opeth cuz they try to perfect they're music production as much as possible. They're death metal (more of Opeth's style and not some silly bru00tal mes) they're really artistic, and they have TONS of soft music that is perfectly blended into the music even more so than Opeth, and they have a Italian feel. DEFINATLY worth listening to, especially their two new albums, Materia (which has almost no growls and takes on a prog. rock feel) and The Blue (a return to their previous sound full of growls and soft parts and singing and a heavier feel).

I'd start with Five Leaves Left. Pink Moon is probably the best known, all three are pretty good actually. If you like him, check out Vashti Bunyan, Devendra Banhart, Kaki King,or any of the other ones that have been mentioned, except that Rick fellow.
