I was wondering how well any of the modules did metal tones. I was going to eventually buy one for a studio amp since they're so damn flexible. I know Michael Wagner uses one (actually two) all the time.
Anybody used a Randall RM4?

I haven't used one, but know it's used on the newest Disturbed album. I also believe Jason said he tracked the new Kataklysm album with one, but I don't remember which preamp module he said he used. So yeah, I'd say it can do metal tones - just depends on the modules you use with it.

Not the BEST mic placement job I've ever heard, but it should tell you what you need to know. 1086, Recto, and XTC all do pretty well.
