A week ago I discovered I have it. Mostly in my right ear and a little in my left ear. I don't need a doctor to tell me I have constant ringing in my ears.

I guess those years of blasting music in my studio headphones finally caught up to me.

Truthfully, it's not bad(yet). I only hear it if I'm sleeping on my right ear and if there is absolutely no sound going on whatsoever. I can hear it pretty clear during a power outage.

Anyone else have it?

Since I can remember, in my right ear. Nothing to do with music. It got quieter after surgery though.

Have you noticed your hearing getting worse along with it or has it all remained the same?

Well, it doesn't leak foul smelling drainage and get clogged with wax anymore but my hearing was fine before, just the above kept blocking the canal. And that keratoma, too.

I have it pretty bad in both ears. I got it from taking anti-depressants back when I was in middle/high-school. It only seems to get worse, too.

I'm on the road to developing it unfortunately. I've got really nice, loud headphones and have been playing in a band since I was 12 (I'm 16 now and don't plan on stopping playing in bands for a long time). Not to mention I've been to quite a few concerts and will continue going.

Yeah I've got tinnitus too. I only notice a ringing on occasion, but I also get prominent ticking/popping sounds in my ears when I move my head in certain ways. It's been driving me insane for months & I'm still waiting for an appointment with the ear/nose/throat clinic. I don't think mine's because of loud noise either because my hearing's fine, I haven't been to a concert in over a year & I never turn my music up too high.

I've had it primarily in my left ear since November 25, 2005, when this crappy local band was playing and the keyboards were turned up waaaaaaaay louder than the rest of the band. It's not torturously bad, but if there's nothing else going on I can definitely hear it.

Moral of the story? Wear ear plugs to concerts.

I have a slight ringing in my ears but I can only hear it when it's absolutely quiet (like when going to sleep) and I lay on one side.

when do you notice it?...i mean i hear a ring after an evening with loud music...or when i drive alone more than 1hour(lots of speakers in my car)...
when im in bed...

but normally i dont hear a ring

I don't think that's tinnitus; I think that's just the sound of silence (no pun intended). If everything is extremely quiet, you should be able to hear more of a soft roar, but not a ringing. If you hear a constant ringing in your ear similar to that after you've fired a gun, been around loud fireworks, or concerts immediately after, that's probably tinnitus. The killer is PROLONGED exposure, and the lower frequencies zap your hearing more than the higher ones, i.e. you bassists need to turn down your amps!!!

I have a really quiet ringing noise in my ears. Sometimes I can only hear it when there is no noise in the room, so I guess I'm lucky. Could that be the sound of my blood rushing around in my ears?

My right ear randomly hums loudly for a few seconds, and then goes away. I have no idea what that's about.

Btw, stores sell drops that supposedly reduce the effects of tinnitus...not sure if they work, though.
And as another tip, wear ear plugs WHENEVER you're around anything remotely loud. Lawnmowers, vacuums, heavy machinery, etc.
Prolonged exposure to anything higher than 85 decibles (a lawnmower and heavy traffic are at about 90 db) will damage your ears, an there is no way to fix that.

I always wear earplugs at concerts, and I'm fucking glad that I am still able to hear a mosquito from across the room.

Ironically, the most ringing I get is after I've been playing the pipes - especially indoors). Despite the concerts I attend, music I listen and play along to, it seemingly fails to have as much of an obvious ringing effect (well, except from when sitting in a fairly small pub, and the band's too fucking loud, I suppose). I seriously ought to wear earplugs when playing pipes, I just never remember. I guess, however, it's not all that suprising when, as Dead Winter rightly pointed out, you've got 3 monotone drones literally droning at different bass frequencies next to your ear the entire time. :erk:

i also have the ringing in my ears when its quiet because i didn't wear earplugs when i went to shows from around age 13 - 15 but now i try to wear earplugs at shows whenever i can and at band practice. its nice to not go deaf and also i find with earplugs sometimes it makes a lot of the screeching you can sometimes hear at loud shows when someone is shredding go away.

It didn't take many concerts with days of ear ringing madness afterwards to realize that wearing earplugs is the only way to go. I've been playing music and going to shows multiple times a week for the last 6 or 7 years. I'd say I wear earplugs probably 80% of the time, and 100% of the time at band practice.

I've thought I had Tinnitus but I'm pretty sure I don't. I only notice quiet ringing if I really pay attention for it when it's silent.

Like Dead Winter said... it's about prolonged exposure. I always make a conscious effort to wear earplugs at shows and since I normally do, it doesn't affect me the few times that I don't.

WEAR EAR PLUGS!
