Anyone heard the new Dissection yet?

Eh, I've never even listened to Somberlain or Storm all the way through! Just listened to Xeper I Set on Myspace and it sounds a bit punky, less melodeath, and maybe a bit more like old Dissection minus the atmosphere and maturity. I hope this gets better with more listens.

Yea I feel alot of older In Flames vibes from the two tracks I've heard, Starless Aeon and xeper-I-set. I guess I'll download the album now and give it a proper listen since I really havent given it a chance. Truth be told though I never was much a fan of even older In Flames records. Im probably letting nostalgia cloud my judgement some too, so much time spent listening to the first two CD's. I remember learning to play damn near every song on the Somberlain on my guitar a few years ago.

:OMG: Somberlain, now. Get to it.

Hey, I listen to a lot of music, so I'll comment on Dissection new and old. I have Somberlain, and I've listened to much of it without ever really paying close attention. I used to be a bigger fan of this kind of stuff. That said, I listened to Night's Blood and Where Dead Angels Lie on myspace this morning and they ruled.

Yeah, the Somberlain is one of the most rewarding musical experiences EVER. Noltem has a fair amount of inspiration from Dissection when it comes to harmony and melody, even though its not very apparent.

early Dissection and In Flames have a lot in common with regards to those lead harmonies etc. I only say this because I know how much you love Jester Race too.

At The Fathomless Depths / Night's Blood = perfection in music.

Listening to my illegally downloaded mp3 copy of this here new Dissection right now... or am I listening to this?

Oh fuck the title track is CLASSIC Dissection. :kickass:

Yeah I pre-ordered it. I hope Jon doesn't use my $24.80 to buy a new taser. :loco:

If there are 5 highlights from the 90's in terms of musical moments of genius, that kickstart to Light's Bane is one of them.

I'm betting $20 that both Nate and Lurch will dig this new Dissection.

I'll bet $100 that J would hate it. Anyone willing to take that bet? :tickled:

FYI -- this is on pre-sale at CDuniverse for $9.

LOL I ordered the "special edition" version for like twice that or something. What a fucking idiot! But it should be here any day now though.

And to be honest, I expect to really enjoy it despite most people saying it's shit.

haha, why is that? I'm curious, to be sure, but curiosity isnt enough for me to waste money on something that I'm judging on the shit Maha Kali single. Somberlain, Storm, and the Satanized material is just enough for me.

I'm trying real hard to just buy classic stuff ive never gotten around to and new releases from my faves.

Interestingly enough, Maha Kali is probably the worst song on the album but then I don't exactly hate it either.

Simply put, I don't think you would like it based on the description I gave on page 1 of this thread. I don't think it's "gritty" or "filthy" enough for you. I think this album would appeal to late 80's/early 90's thrash fans (when thrash mellowed out and started to meld well with traditional heavy metal).

By the way, the ENTIRE album is mid-paced. It's got a stomping rhythm.

Yeah, based on that, probably not.

Seaking of gritty and filthy, some of you fans of The Somberlain should really get The Past is Alive.
