Anyone here got a Valve Junior? Could it do Doom with a boost/pedal?

I bought a blues jr a while back and it was cool playing it at the store, but when i got home and slapped on my some pedals.. it just went 
uke:.. I had an RP250uke: sound, super distorionuke: sound, An Overlord Tube od pedal was ok... went thru about $100 worth of tubes trying to get a good sound , but they are only good on blues and very few other tones... Not very versatile...
