I could really use some help. This program is pissing me off to no end. I used 3DS Max a few years ago and this just seems ridiculously complicated and inefficient in comparison.

One of the problems I've got atm:
Capture.JPG

I used booleans to extract the cylinder and squarey thing from that object. But I can't bevel cos the boolean doesn't triangulate the top. And anything I try to do just covers the whole top.

How do I make polygons for that object that join up all those vertices up on the top? In 3DS Max it was just a single tool that you kept using.. in Maya it seems to create a separate object for each polygon and you have to reuse the tool each time. And when I went to join and move them.. no idea what went wrong but it was something major.

Probably not the forum to be asking on, but you guys are always so helpful, and I'm sure there'd be a few modellers on here (Erkan!!).

I cant really help you on this one since i never used Maya.. but i have seen people work in Maya, and it seems like its 10 times as fast as working in 3DSMax when you learn it.
Hope someone else can help you though!

I've been using 3dsmax aswell, so I can't really help you there...

But BOOLEANS ARE EVIL seriously. You just get tons of "impossible" faces, and stuff like smoothing or subdividing fucks up severely...
