Anyone of you celebrating pagan festivities...

Have you talked to other heathen parents about it? I know my sister in law is. She's a heathen to, and she and my brother will teach their daughter (who's only one year old now) about that, but they will be open to let her choose whatever she wants to. I don't know where she is talking about these things, or if it is in english, but well, it is some kind of a forum, anyway.

Thank you Fjelltussa. There's been times when i've wondered should I teach him but opted to just let him observe me as I get on with it. I wish I knew any other heathen parents to talk to. Where I live I'm not so likely to find any. I have come to realise that for a lot of kids, an interest in this path doesn't usually emerge until their early teens. For me it came at age 10, and for some doesn't come until well into adulthood. I think he has been watching and learning more than I thought because 2 months ago I was in a spot and had to have him assist me in a ritual and I was stunned at how well he handled it.
But you know what it is that makes or breaks a person on this path - the study. There are a lot of people who want to do this but will not devote the time to learning properly. They want to just jump right into the practical end of it and skip the important study phase.
There are some fantastic children's books about Paganism available for your niece. :)

I admit I'm weak on traditions. I do not believe in God,
I only see the world as it is, and from the perspective
I learned as a student. It would be cool somehow if
there was something more, but I strongly believe in
that I'll be dust as I pass away....
I see no reason in celebrating anything pagan...yet!
In addition I'd like to mention I don't like any forms
of 'cults' and this includes Christianity. I respect other
people for whom they are, and I'd rather not discuss
religious matters either because they lead to nowhere.
Maybe I should afterall, but I try to avoid it....

*looking through the window at the clear blue evening sky*

I see only beauty in nature and its laws, not the illusions
of mankind! Maybe someday I will celebrate some pagan
tradition. Dunno.

I'm going to "celebrate" Summer Solstice with some friends, but not in a really spiritual way. As far as I can tell I'm the only one of that group who could endure AND enjoy spending time in nature with not much of anything else to do. So that day as I picture it will be us sitting around in a way too urban place, the others getting drunk and me trying to make the best of it. *shrug*

The summer solstice is approaching... someone planning on any festivities then?? I guess I cannot, got to work that concerned days :( I'd like to meet up with some people at the Steinsburg in Thüringen, tho :/

Yes, my Midsummer festivities include herb harvesting, fertilise the plants, re-set the sundial, a solstice ceremony and I will set in place and dress the new wishing well that I just got for the garden. If it rains then I'll have to make alternate arrangements.
