Picked up their latest, and it would be a gross understatement to say that I was more than a little disappointed. I found their first album to be pretty good, but felt their second was a major improvement in pretty much all areas. Their third was a backslide in both songwriting as well as production, and their latest sounds like it has a pre-remixed Enemies of Reality production.

At least the songwriting seems to have improved I guess. But when everything is so "raw" and muddy sounding, it doesn't make their brand of music sound like it should at all.

I'm going to see them in August, when they support Forbidden. I haven't listen to their records for years, I think I will give 'em another try.

:kickass:

I agree with OP about the third album sucking, though. And the second being the best.

Fooled By The Serpent solo is one of my favorite solos ever. It's perfect.

I'm a little disappointed too. Gonna give it a few more listens before I decide completely, I really want to like it. Can't beat "Under a Luminious Sky" and "My Bleeding Victim".......

Wish they would come back to the UK and tour over here with Forbidden!

I really liked the first 2 cd's and I was lining this band up to become one of my new favorites, but the last 2 releases just haven't risen to the level I was hoping for. There are still some good songs and good playing, but it seems like they are just spinning their wheels and not really progressing very much. I will give the new one a few more listens and hope it grows on me, but they also need to get on some decent tours and get themselves over into the U.S. for some more exposure.

I found "My Bleeding Victim" a bit mediocre. "Under a Luminous Sky" and "Fooled by the Serpent" are in my opinion the best tracks they ever recorded.

I actually like "My Bleeding Victim", but I think the two that you think are the best, are the best on that particular album. "At Dewey Prime" is a close runner up though, but my all time favorite from them is "Communication Sublime".

Ah yes, "At Dewy Prime" is pretty awesome too. And wasn't Communication Sublime basically the same as My Bleeding Victim, only with altered lyrics and a few minor things changed?

I agree with the majority of posters here though. Great first to albums, but Payment of Existence was a bit too much treading water.

I agree with basically all of this, though I prefer Conspiracy in Mind to Waves of Visual Decay. Those two albums are epic as fuck all the way through and I always listen to them front to back.

The last two however, have only a couple songs each that worth anything. They've definitely gotten better at trimming the songs up so they're not so long and pointlessly drawn out, but the music itself has been sacrificed. I'm afraid they'll never put out an album as good as either of the first two again, but at least I have those ones, which I still frequently listen to.

My Fallen is a really cool song from the newest album. The heavy part in that song could have come straight from Conspiracy in Mind. Good stuff.

Maybe you're just comparing them because they are both two of their more thrashy songs? Other than that, they aren't really very similar.

Heh, I usually do that as well. But when I'm "pressed for time" I tend to gravitate towards Waves. It just has what I consider more standout tracks overall. But it's like the difference between an A- and an A+.

I like to listen to "My Bleeding Victim" when I'm angry or feel hurt by someone, so I always go back to that particular song for those reasons :)

Hated this band ever since I was talking to an elitist about Nevermore with him saying (this was like 6-7 years ago) that Communic is better than Nevermore on all fronts. Music sounded like a Nevermore recycled band with the fact that they play tight the only reason why they're signed.

Maybe they sound abit like Nevermore. Is that a bad thing?
As long as the music's good written and sophisticated, who cares?
