So, you can download 6 stereo stems from iTunes as an album ($0.99) and remix them as you desire. Pretty cool. I know NIN has been doing this, too. I'm going to fool around with it a bit. Anyone else going to give it a shot?

Nar, but I'm pretty aroused that 09 will see another Radiohead album. Glad it's not another 4 years wait like between Hail and Rainbows. Though we did get Yorke's solo album which was pretty good.

The rumor was confirmed about a week ago that they have laid out and written the majority of the next album and at the end of the world tour they will record it. To put it out sometime in the 2nd half of next year I would expect.

I'd do it if it was free, not that I'm a fan, but its often rather fun. I do hope these aren't the already mixed and mastered tracks however, so far -every single damn time- I've seen a band do this, they give you already mixed tracks, meaning, they already sound like horrid ass, and you can't mix them at all how you might like.

I don't really even enjoy traditional "remixes", so I'm not going to do some extended dance mix or something. I'm actually thinking of making it heavier. I've started messing around with some stuff from Drumkit From Hell, dropping the original drum track in and out, fattening up some of the guitars, effecting the vocals in the middle section. I plan to lay in some of my own guitar tracks. What I've been playing with is sort of interesting.

But, seriously, the original is pretty good. Although, now I miss my vocal effects in the original when I compare them. I'll post my version here if I ever actually find time to finish it.

You mean like, make it not sound like boring in a can? In all seriousness, I love the remix stems idea, but I am no fan of Radiohead...

Pretty much. The way the tracks are delivered, on 6 stereo tracks, is interesting, as they're really just mono tracks made stereo to make the purchase of them from iTunes easier. Really, it's 12 mono tracks (except maybe the BG Vox). I have Cakewalk Sonar Home Studio 6XL, and it can't handle iTunes Plus files, so I had to make a playlist in iTunes, burn that to a CD, then import the tracks off the CD into Sonar, then solo and hard pan each track one way one by one and do a bounce to track to get mono tracks. There may have been an easier way to do it, but it wasn't hard. Just a bit time consuming.

Again, I'm guessing that a lot of you are like me, and don't really know diddly shit about "remixes". Mixing, yes. Remixing, no. Pre-mixed and effected tracks is probably a decent solution for people who do traditional remixing. But if you're looking to actually mix this, throw your faders to unity gain and there you go. Done.

Thanks, Emre! I had fun making Thom Yorke sing over blast beats. It actually kinda works, though, don't you think?
