Apparently Ingmar Bergman died today.

clamatoboy: will is trying to talk shit to me about ingmar bergman
clamatoboy: but he doesn't seem to know who he is
clamatoboy: hahahaha
The Moonkultdawn: hahah
clamatoboy: "WHAT DID HE EVER DO THATS SO SPECIAL"
The Moonkultdawn: HAHAH
clamatoboy: I tried explaining
clamatoboy: but alas
clamatoboy: it failed
The Moonkultdawn: I mean, the seventh seal is pretty much one of the most widely known works of art cinema
The Moonkultdawn: EVERYBODY has parodied it
The Moonkultdawn: so really
The Moonkultdawn: is will really being a jerk about it?
clamatoboy: yeah
clamatoboy: he tried
clamatoboy: but I shut him down
clamatoboy: so he stopped talking about it
The Moonkultdawn: hahah
clamatoboy: but it was stuff like " I BET MATT LIKES HIM JUST TO BE DIFFERENT"
clamatoboy: and I was like, "nah man, he's a well respected pioneer of cinema"
clamatoboy: so then I tried telling about THE SEVENTH SEAL
clamatoboy: and he said "I ATE THE FIRST 6"
clamatoboy: so just stopped talking
clamatoboy: so i just*
The Moonkultdawn: ah don't worry
The Moonkultdawn: one day if he ever sees the seventh seal
The Moonkultdawn: he'll be like
The Moonkultdawn: "OH"
clamatoboy: hahaha
The Moonkultdawn: "....."
clamatoboy: yeah
clamatoboy: well
clamatoboy: I doubt that will happen
clamatoboy: It's not action packed or comedic enough
clamatoboy: "NEEDS MORE STEVEN SEAGAL"

haha i would totally pay to see a remake of the seventh seal featuring steven seagal as death

actually they made it already, i got an advance copy of the script and i present it in its entirety:

(scene opens on the beach)
...
""Vem är du?"
"JAG AR DODEN!!!!"
(seagal gives von sydow a flying elbow to the face)
...
(roll credits)

Oh well R.I.P., he lived a full of life. Loved many of his films, with "Cries And Whispers" being my favourite, but respected almost everything he ever done.
Only Antonioni remains from the "old guard" now.

Holy...how could i know...this just happened? Huge shock.

Yes, i prefer Antonioni to Bergman as well, his style on all his periods is closer to what i like. You should really watch "The Passenger" it's probably my favourite film of him, next to "The Red Desert".

apparently they were working on a schwarzenegger remake of seventh seal too but it got scrapped due to budget issues, i found a bootleg though:

(scene opens on the beach, they begin playing chess)
...
Block: Bishop to f6.
Doden: Queen....TO DAH CENTAH OF YOUR HAHT!!
(Schwarzenegger lunges at von Sydow and drives a chesspiece through his ribcage; the knight collapses to the ground with a gurgling scream. Schwarzenegger, pinning him down with a knee, reveals a grenade from within his robes, rams it into von Sydow's mouth, and rolls him off a cliff. The body falls several seconds before exploding in midair, raining bits of gore onto the rocks below. Schwarzenegger stands triumphantly at the top of the precipice, sneering at the carnage.)
Doden: Checkmate.
(Suddenly helicopters rise over the ridge behind Schwarzenegger and legions of robot warriors begin swarming over the edge of the cliff in front of him. He pulls out a chaingun and starts blowing them away. When they have fallen back in disarray, he turns and guns down the pilot of one chopper, causing it to careen wildly into another, taking them both down in an blazing explosive fireball. Out of ammo, he begins crushing in robotic skulls with his bare hands. A lull in the fighting, then a grinding, engine noise. Foreboding music. Over a hill in front of Schwarzenegger rises a huge robot tank bristling with armaments, and he whips out a rocket launcher--

it cuts off suddenly here, pity really
