apps that make your your PC better/more efficient?

i record music on my desktop. what apps or what can i do to optimize my desktop to make it run more efficient and better for recording music?

There isn't going to be a program that will make an under powered PC perform at a higher level, but there is CCleaner that will help you keep your PC clean and will allow you to safely clean out your registry.

if you have trouble with multicore distribution (eg. all your audio work runs on only one of your 4 CPU cores), things like Process Lasso might help. It´s able to restrict each process to one or several cores, and can make picky software run more easily on all cores at once
