Some amazing quotes in here!

"His supporters claim that the president is a Nazi who wants to take away healthcare from the elderly and that he is somehow advocating euthanasia."

Another man tells me that the UK has the highest mortality and the worst recovery rates in Europe. When I ask whether he has experienced this at first hand, he replies: "Why would I? I'd be dead."

And then there is the young woman who likens Britain and Canada to third world countries because of their health systems.

At one extreme there were the protesters carrying posters of Barack Obama with a Hitler moustache.

God damn him for wanting to give health care to poorer people!

In the UK, which these idiots have faled to realise is we also have private healthcare where if ya wanna pay a lot of something, you have that option!

First thing Obama shoulda done is ammend the FIF! to exclude redneck stupidity from people who's fingers smell of their own sister and have never left their own country.

"He says he cannot afford health insurance and wants a more affordable system. " --> if people cannot understand this is a bad issue that a man in such a country cannot afford health insurance, they are obviously stupid.

"Not everyone present agrees that it is a "right". This is the biggest difference between Europe and America." --> I don't get how it is possible to say such a thing. You have either to be stupid or deeply mean to think such a thing. "I'm ok so I don't care the others"

I'm in france, and here, health care is quite efficient. If you have health insurance, every single box of medicine (excepted really special ones that you don't "need") are paid back. There is no 6 months queue to go to a dentist, and if there is a queue, there must be another dentist not too far that takes you quite quickly. Also, even poor people in the street have the right to go to the doctor, and I think it's free for them, there are ways to make it free for them, and I guess some doctors take them free just to be sure they are followed.

So when I read about the fact in USA everybody don't have the CHANCE to have good healthcare (this mustnt be a chance but a right) and that when you talk about making it universa, people stand saying this is acting like Hitler, I just don't get it. WTF, I hope these people are a tiny minority ! They would all diserve to be fired, to live poorly and discover what is trying to do Obama from inside.

How can people be so fucking retarded...

I love the idea that if you live in Britian, you'll die.

Yes... yes you will... but not cause of the healthcare system :lol:

They were comparing it to the NHS. He doesn't even want to do that, all he wants is a nationalised insurance scheme so everyone can get quality healthcare.

A lady on the TV (who I wanted to punch for being a fuckwit) was saying that poor people could use government hospitals. Would you use government hospitals? *shifty eyes* yes! have you? *shifty eyes* y....eee..........ssssss. Really.

My favorite quote was "In america healthcare isn't rationed! you have the right to choose!" wut?

Overall, the american healthcare and hospital system is the least efficient in the developed world, and far behind systems with nationalised healthcare in terms of economic efficiency and patient satisfaction. When we see news stories like this we know why.

It's hard to tell from his accent where he is from, in fairness.

:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

And all I can say to this story is: IT'S A BIG AND INCREDIBLY DIVERSE FUCKING COUNTRY, DON'T JUDGE US ALL ON THESE RETARDS :) (so far no one has yet, at least vocally, but just nipping that one in the bud ;)) And I definitely think a bare minimum of universal healthcare is a right, but I also feel like people should definitely have the opportunity to purchase better options if they can afford it (that's the moderate in me balancing both sides, cuz I certainly don't think we should just have one really really good nationalized healthcare system)

What a revolting creature :puke:

Democracy is such a retarded system when you look at it.

Elect a guy to inform the populace of ratifications and decision of the powers that be, and in turn to take the brunt of public outrage when the silver spoon assholes in charge prove how out of touch they are with the world.

Could be worse though. Could be all people under one self elected commander in chief who decides that he'll eliminate an entire race of people because he didn't get into art school.

I highly recommend this article to all of the US citizens here. You have to register to read it but it factually rebuts many of the silly arguments. It's worth reading regardless of your stance on the issue.

To the non-US guys, there is an obscene amount of fear mongering and misinformation being spread around our country right now. The fact of the matter is that there are many perfectly reasonable things to take issue with in the house and senate bills however none of those are taking center stage b/c they aren't nearly as sensational as completely fallacious "death panels."

There are a lot of impressionable people. The fact that the President's nationality is still debated is the ultimate demonstration of this.

There is also this pervasive notion in the US that we have the best health care system in the world (if you can get it) which of course is pretty far from the truth if you actually look at the numbers.

From the World Health Organization (WHO) statistics:

* US life expectancy ranked 24th of the WHO nations.
* The US ranked 37th in overall health system performance putting it between Costa Rica and Slovenia.(France and Italy ranked 1 and 2)

In a comparison done between 13 nations in the 1998 Oxford University Press, the US ranked:

* 13th (last) for low-birth-weight percentages
* 13th for neonatal mortality and infant mortality overall
* 11th for postneonatal mortality
* 13th for years of potential life lost (excluding external causes)
* 11th for life expectancy at 1 year for females, 12th for males
* 10th for age-adjusted mortality

The US spends the highest percentage of it's GDP on healthcare in the world (around 15% of GDP) and the highest per person spending at around $4200 per person per year.

Here is an OP ed about the "death panels" that was linked from the Consumers Union (consumer reports) website and here is another.

Sorry for the rant.

Would anyone really take opinions on health-care seriously when they come from a person that looks like this:

edit: Doh! Didn't see the prior post making the same point! hehe

It's the Republican fear machine in full swing. Pundits such as Bill O'Riley & Rush Limbaugh are given way too much clout, and do their jobs very well. ...And that job is to scare the shit out of people.

They're afraid of SOCIALISM! DUN DUN DUUUUUUN! Big scary stuff.

I'll bet that most of these nutjobs don't remember much about Karl Marx besides his name. I also bet that at least half of them cannot accurately(or maybe just sufficiently) define socialism.

God damn Fox News-watchers.

She probably watches Fox News.

There's an unfortunately vocal segment of the US population with the fervent belief that any concept or policy adopted by a European country is automatically wrong for us and "un-American", I guess because if they were good ideas we would have had them first. :Smokin:

I listened to one of those town hall meetings on C-Span Radio driving home the other night. Basically it was half an hour of a senator being shouted at by:

¤ paranoid pensioners who've sunk their dentures into some scrap of fearspin they read in an RNC direct mailer ("You say you're going to expand Medicate benefits, but what you aren't telling us is that if we aren't dead after three years you're going to round us up and execute us!:yell:")

¤ smug young brat-ivist punks who can't be bothered to fact check things they've heard somewhere but think their every snarky insult disguised as a question is an "a-ha! gotcha!" zinger deserving a moral rimshot ("I don't remember what document I was reading or when, but section 327 CLEARLY states blahblahblah, but SUUUURELY you would NEEEEVER blahBLAHblah. My tone indicates I expect you to be so devastated by my insight that you will be unable to resp--wait, no stop talking! You're supposed to be devastated! :cry:")

¤ middle aged conspiracy theorists who probably turn up at all public meetings to bitch about fluoridated water , RID chips, and Teh New Global Currencyo_O

I sure hope a senator's paid speaking engagements and globe hopping 'fact-finding' trips are worth it, coz if I had been in his place, my reaction to that crowd would fall somewhere between Hillary Clinton being told to "Get in the kitchen, woman, and fix me a sammich!" and Jack Ruby having a quiet chat with Lee Harvey Oswald.

And they still wonder why nobody's listening to them. :rolleyes:

If I was that senator, that would have been the point where I said fuck it and moved to Prague or something like that.

But then again, I lost faith in this country years ago. I suppose to become a senator, you must have some hope left... maybe.

The drummer in my band was just telling me after practice last week about how the health care bill is socialism. This from a guy that is laid off from work living off of unemployment. Perfectly logical?

He also thinks that the 911 attacks were carried out by the united states government. And that the reason America really went to war in Afghanistan was because the CIA were trading with the locals for drugs that they shipped to L.A to hook African Americans on.

He also thinks that Black Water security is going to take his guns away on orders from the government.

And everything else wrong in the world is because of a Jewish plot.

Needless to say he is no longer allowed near the lyric sheet for the songs I write.
