[Life Sucks]

Arghoslent rule. And I don't see how anyone can call them a Judas Priest tribute band or anything. They heavily incorporate traditional metal into a death metal sound, but their overall sound is quite unique. IMO they are easily one of the very best newer death metal bands.

There's plenty of death metal atonality in a lot of their songs, but you do have a point. Their music is also more aggressive than most heavy metal.

exactly! its some of the most tasteful and melodic metal of the last ten years. and by 'melodic' i don't mean those 'melodic death metal bands' who all use the exact same sounding riffs and try to be all emotional and shit... i'm mean geniunely catchy old school metal style riffs. its bands like this that have made me re-evaluate my belief that metal has pretty much been stagnant the last decade. i was wrong... there are clearly some great bands out there tearing shit up.

They have racist lyrics but it's not over the top or offensive enough to stop most people with fucking brains from listening to it. They are accurate enough from the historical perspective of a white man from around the early American times that I basically imagine that is their general artistic intent; to make melodic death metal with heavy metal leanings that attempts to be racist in such a way that it isn't completely stupid and obviously ignorant sounding (though it may be ignorant in other ways, but they are not a band to go "lol my pals suck kill them all").

I'm sure I'll attend, but I guess we'll see if this pans out into something scandalous since their local controversial partners in crime, Grand Belial's Key, have had shows here canceled several times due to complaints (though I did manage to catch them once). I believe the last show Argoslent played anywhere nearby was with NSBM bands and organized by skinheads. Probably good that I decided against that one.

I understand that you like the band, V5, but I'm confused as to why you feel you need to defend their ideology when it's so straight-up retarded. There's nothing wrong with listening to a band whose viewpoint you don't agree with, but I think it's kind of creepy to try and argue that their drivel is somehow "intelligent" just because they can write about historical events in passable English.

I think my attitude is the product of a fairly reasonable worldview, not "not having any fucking brains."

I feel kind of like a douche bashing the band in "their" thread, and I want to repeat that lyrics aside, they definately have some likable qualities- I'm not trying to attack anybody's taste. I'm just taken aback when people respond to criticism of Arghoslent's ideology not by tossing out some byline like "You don't have to agree with the music you listen to" but by defending its merits. It has none.
