How the hell is Alexi so damn good? :loco: I spent about 6 straight hours today practice the solo to 'Children of Bodom'... makeing good progress. I just need to speed it up now. Then I started watching the Live in Tuska Finland video and wanted to cry. It's really his work with the tremelo bar that boggles my mind. I'm doing stuff with the fretting to imitate what he does with the trem bar without even thinking he was using it.

I'm doomed.. Alexi is a music genius and I'm not. Except for maybe that new EP.. What the hell happened??

Ok, I'm just rambling now. Carry on.

Alexi tonight at the Troc was amazing, too bad the right side of the stage couldn't hear any of his solos. Either way, he rocked. NYC was better

I had the same problem when I saw them in Atlanta last October I think it was. Couldn't hear anything from the left side.. then I moved over and could hear it. Or the guy in the soundbooth got off his ass and fixed something.

The Troc really needs to improve their sound system...I had the same problem the first time I went there...only it was during Nevermore's set.

Do you fucking expect to be as good as him if you play 6 hours once?? I mean, you must play many many many years before you're as good as he is. And how many years have you been playing now?
The keys to be a good guitar player is to devote into it very much and always try to play as clean as possible.
And I'm sure you'll be a great guitarist if you keep on playing that 6hours/day many years :)

No, you took that wrong. I had just practiced that solo for 6 hours. And I was commenting mostly about his composition skills, not technical skills. I'm sure his technical skills can be reached with shitloads of practice which I've been working on for several years. It just boggles my mind at how he writes them so well and melodically. My own solos sound like a robot randomly shreding up scales.:D

Dragonforce eh? Never heard them. The name gives me the impression that they are one of those powermetal high pitched clean vocal bands. o_O

Yes, with two guitarists that make alexi look like he should be in Korn.
