okay. so it wont give you that bone curdling nasty yuck and ugly type of distortion. like i said i want to keep it around the 700 dollar mark. i like marshall but not enough to buy one. what peavey? which h+k? i appreciate any comments. by the way the sound i am after is like the cob, arch enemy, dark tranquility,in flames, etc.thanks

What do you want in an amp? Combo or head? Tube? Solid State? Valves? Extreme distortion, good clean tones?

i am looking for pretty extreme distortion. tube preferably, but i wont mind if it isn't. any suggestions would be appreciated. thanks

hmm look at some peaveys.... i dont know much but try some... and marshall of course.. well they all sound the same but they still rock

Marshall TSL Series might be alright for you, i don't think a good Peavey is in his price range. I don't know really just look around amps websites and see what you like.
