Asking Alexandria - Someone, Somewhere "Cover" RAW MULTITRACKS !!!

Here's my mix: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/88715546/SomeoneMIXDOWN_02.mp3

After placing everything in order and mapped the drums right i spent about 1-2 hours on this mix, so it's a bit scetchy.
This is my first try ever doing a Sturgis-ish mix. It was good to practice on since tomorrow im starting to record a bands EP wich they want some sturgis-sound on. Thanks for the Stems! :)

You're welcome dude. ;)

I think the guitars sound nice but way too loud. I guess thats the reason why the mix is pumping. :)

Yeah i noticed that too before i read your reply haha, so i made a quick change. The master was clipping pretty hard and i think the guitars where a bit harsh as well. I think this mix sound more pleasent right now, it still needs work but i think it's an improvement: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/88715546/SomeoneMIXDOWN_03.mp3

I can't really get that snare into place either, i don't have the t-racks clipper at the moment. I think that's whats missing :p

Here's my shot at it. Let me know how it sounds. Im still trying to get used to my Yamaha hs80m's. Im actually going to do Vocals on top of this too! ill update the link as soon as im done with the vocals. Feedback please!

hey man ur mixes sound amazing soo good can u tell me how u mastered it maybe giving pics like the guitar tone u put up?

Dude, these raws kick ass! I decided to mix it and throw some vox on it too. Only thing is that it's a full step up from the original song, so the vox were a bit tough haha. Besides that, I'm not a singer lol, I actually play guitar but I guess it turned out decent. Here's my go though:

EDIT: After more listens, it sounds like the vox are a little high, so I'll probably mix again tomorrow or something. My ears are pretty done for the night lol.

Gujukal, your mix is pretty good, though I'd like to add some lows and meat to the rythm guitars and bass. It will sound a lot punchier then I think. :)
cloos_2008, nice vocal cover, mate! Would you like to share these raw vox with us for embedding them to instrumental mix? Besides the mix is nice too, but might be slightly wetter and wider. :)
Symphobia 1
Great strings!
Are the spiccatos also from this lib?

Mad vox on that cover

theboybc, hi!
Try not to compress the mix to such an extent.
Clean the lower part of the mix by using hi-pass filtering and EQ.
The snare has pretty descent tone by itself, but sounds like a machinegun a bit. Is it Sturgis' Snare 1?
