Atlanta has 3 months of water left?

They were talking about Georgia and the drought on the weather channel this morning. They mentioned that Texas was in the same position last year and this year they're getting pounded with rain.

I have lived in Houston all 22 years of my life and i have NEVER seen this much rain:OMG: - I think it rained over 20 days in June....which really screwed with my summer fun:Smug: Try playing volleyball in a sandy mud pit...bleh!:erk: And don't even get me started on my tan. It POURED yesterday from about 2:30 p.m. and all through the night, which was enough to send a big snake up to my front door...are ya KIDDING me?! ick....:ill:

Another VA resident here... plus my folks live in Charles county in MD - their grass is a lovely shade of brown...

I noticed driving down to PP that the waters/ tributaries we passed were WAY low...

We need it to start raining NOW... Not too much at once tho!! I'd be happy with a steady drizzle for weeks if it would get everyone out of drought status!!!

ALL over the National News right now, how GA is sending gallons and gallons of water down to some Mussel farm/sanctuary in FL. Says if this place does not shut down by tomorrow shit is gonna fly. Now you guys are down to 2 weeks supply of usable water they are saying.

I know our two senators introduced legislation to suspend the Endangered Species Act as regards the mussels -- that's the reason the US Army Corps of Engineers has been federally compelled to maintain the flow downriver.

I'd expect the current Congress to deny any such request, of course. "If we start saving humans at the expense of endangered critters, where will it end?!?!"

AKA Metal's weekend boyfriend. :)

(Ripper can be hard to fathom sometimes.)

Yeah, FL pisses me off with that, so does AL with their whole "we don't need to conserve" attitude. I hope shit flies down in FL, for the last 3 years they've been getting more than enough, thanks to a leaky valve that the ACoE found last year.

Quick! Someone call Ripper!

(My friend 'Ripper,' who attended PP last year and this year, is good at catching them and was the reptile specialist at a PetCo for a while....)

like - with his hands?? :zombie: i just got goosebumps...

on the other hand - reptile specialist?? I REALLLLY want a turtle...but I want one that will stay small...and won't make my apartment smell bad...and definitely no salmonella :ill: any suggestions would be fantastic! :heh:

And to yardley - to be honest....mud wouldn't really be as bad as "wet muddy sand" cause wet sand BURNS!! it's like having razor burn all over....oweeee!!! :waah:

Side Note: Anyone on here that would like to take a second and tell me how to quote two people in one post would be my new best forum friend...or if you don't want to be my new best forum friend and you just want to tell me how to do that....I can handle that too! :p

Find the first message that you want to quote. Click the little icon to the right of the quote button. It has the quotation marks. Then do the same for the next messages that you want to quote. When you have selected all that you want, click the "reply with quote" button for the last one. That works for me.

I wonder if the fact that theres so many people around, and humans being comprised of 70% water have anything to do with all these droughts? I've had that thought, and absolutely nothing to back it up.

How about you folks in Atlanta? It's been raining like crazy here in Southern Illinois, so I'm hoping you folks in the dry areas are getting more rain than us.

Glad to near NC is getting a reprieve. :)

Hmmm..... sounds like Georgia needs to get rid of the blue law about selling beer on Sunday. If there is no water then they can always drink beer. I suppose taking a shower may be a different story. I am going to open a colgne/perfume shop in Atlanta.

Ouch!!:OMG: Is all I can say.

This will definitely put a cramp in local Atlanta folks lifestyles. Also could cause an increase in costs this coming PP9. Comments anyone?

It's been raining the last couple of days in Decatur. So, hopefully, this will help, since it's also raining up north (which is where it really needs to rain).

Light drizzle and misty in the Lake Lanier area. Not enough to help anything.

In all seriousness.... this could affect me too. I am only 110 miles from Atlanta. Our lakes are ok right now though. I don't think we will have a problem this year. If the droughts persist it could get ugly though. I am on well water as well.
