Just heard "Another Brick In The Wall" by Korn on the radio again, this is one of the WORST covers I've ever heard. They dared to play the three parts in a row, the "singing" is horrible and the solo is so bad, it sounds like I'm playing it. I'd like to hear what Roger Waters thinks about it...

Anyway, what covers do you find unlistenable?

Man I dont even think i want to hear that cover lol im a huge floyd fan and i seriously dont think anyone can do any of their songs good or just as good.. and it being done by Korn on the Kob makes it even worst.. when the hell will they go away & disappear along with their million copy cats... grrrrr lol as for unlistenable covers i cant think of them offhand but i have heard really horrible covers of classic rock songs on the radio... that wanted to make me puke ...

Wow, you really want that HUGE list?

Since I'm a tribute albums collector, I have heard so much crap. Especially in the early Dwell records tribute, mostly death/black bands butchering all they touch (like the Rush tribute).

Some songs I really disliked the cover (no offense to anyone, this is my belief):

Nevermore - 'Love Bites' (Judas Priest)
U.D.O - 'Metal Gods' (Judas Priest)
Death - 'Painkiller' (Judas Priest)
Slayer - 'Dissident Aggressor' (Judas Priest)
Cradle Of Filth - 'Hallowed Be Thy Name' (Iron Maiden)
Six Feet Under - 'Wrathchild' (Iron Maiden)
Eric Zimmermann - 'Man On The Silver Mountain' (Rainbow)
Gardenian - 'Gotta Give It Up' (Thin Lizzy)
Blood Coven - 'The Temples Of Syrinx' (Rush)
Cydonia - 'Save Us' (Helloween)
Anal Cunt - 'Killing Yourself To Live' (Black Sabbath)
Brutal Truth - 'Lord Of This World' (Black Sabbath)
Pitch Shifter - 'N.I.B.' (Black Sabbath)
System Of A Down - 'Snowblind' (Black Sabbath)

I have lots more to rant, but these are a clear example

I went to a little underground concert when I lived in So. California and this HORRIBLY AWFUL SHITTY punk band did an ABSO-FUCKING-LUTELY AWFUL version of Brown Eyed Girl. Typical of the no-talent guitarists they sloowwweedd iiit waaaayyyy dooowwwwwnnnnn (Think nearly half speed) and sloppy. I know, How can you play a half speed BEG sloppy? I've no idea but they did it. The singer did it in a little girly voice too. I mean, seriously? Brown eyed girl in a squeekish voice? I cannot convey in words how badly it was done. I wish I had an MP3 to show the world who crucified that timeless song.

I completely agree with every single one of those (especially that horrible, horrible Nevermore version of "Love Bites"), but what did you find bad about the Slayer version of "Dissident Aggressor"? hehe, I thought it was awesome.

What you dont realize is that when a punk band does a cover song its usually to mock or make fun of the song and band who originally did it.. if a punk band does a serious cover song its usually of a classic punk song such as songs by the pistols or the clash for example... thats the only time otherwise they are just making fun of Van Morrison etc.. only punk band that to me did serious covers was the Ramones.. did the Who and other classic rock songs very good on a cover song album they did.. u should check it out if you can find it...

I gotta say the worst cover of all time is ANTHRAX doing PUBLIC ENEMY's BRING THE NOISE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The thing is, when Anthrax first rapped on "I'm the Man" it was all in fun and they pulled it off. I loved that song. (Just my opinion) But when they did it years later with PE it was a train wreck...Scott Ian trying to sound serious and hardcore along side of Chuck D. Now, I loved me some Public Enemy back in the day and Chuck D was a very streetsmart and witty man...the minister of knowledge, if you will. But when Scott Ian tries to be "down" with ANYBODY other than some other nerd it is just not right.

Cardle of Filth's cover of "Hallowed Be Thyt Name" is, of course, a complete fucking abortion. Andany covver Six Feet Under did is a total piece of shit.

Uh, Children of Bodom's cover of WASP's "Hellion" and WASP's cover of the STones' "Paint It Black" were moderately disappointing, and Overkill's cover of "Tyrant" is REALLY lame when you consider what they could have done if they had just played it as a thrasher instead of getting all funky/groovy and letting DD sing the verses. One of the few times Overkill has ever disappointed me.

Actually I do like it

Metallica cover of 'Overkill' sucks beyond belief.

I love that cover. Its kills!! But then I am a Nevermore fanboy

I looove Jag Panzer. I have been a fan since Ample Destruction was released!
But I am going off topic here. I was never any good in telling people what I hate. I'd rather talk about the things I like and Nevermore and Jag Panzer I like! :)

haha, Understandable. I'm the same way about Jag Panzer. ;)
This the whole point of a thread like this. I'm not a fan of any of the aforementioned bands. The only difference is that while Nevermore and Slayer covers are horrible IMO, Jag Panzer covers of 'Children Of The Sea' and 'In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida' are very good ones.

Another point I'm a fan of Heavens Gate, and I love their cover of Judas Priest 'The Sentinel' (I like it more than the original :hypno: ). And I'm damn sure that lots of people in this forum (and others) will barf with it.

So like broccoli, everything is in the individual taste :yuk:

IM gonna have to disagree with you there. Glen Tipton does an awesome version on Baptism of Fire.

That's a damn good album. Marky Ramone & The Intruders did the Beatles' "Nowhere Man" and a great version of The Kinks' "Better Things". But well, I am a huge Ramones fan, like the Nevermore and Jag Panzer fan boys here ;)

and Shadows Fall's cover of Welcome To The Machine is cool too!

Also, I agree about Cradle Of Filth's version of Hallowed Be Thy Name. It's just horrible. And I love Children Of Bodom, but with the exception of Hellion and Somebody Put Something In My Drink, the covers they've done aren't very good (Don't Stop At The Top, Aces High). I don't like Sinergy's "Hanging On The Telephone" either, but well the original sucks anyway :err:
