they killed gypos too. uk didnt kick romanians out of their country to put gypos there instead tho.

and they killed puffs too. and they didnt kick french out of their country to put puffs there instead.

Ah they tortured us Belgians more than the Brits I recon (apart from the German attempt to fly straight into UK over the northsea). We learned quite a lot about WWI and II. Ah and the Americans were good guys back then  without them I would probably be speaking German now.

Then my teacher has been lying. I was talking about Germany's last attempt to conquer Europe anyway, the Ardennes-offensive. They conquered some cities then and almost made it to Antwerp but got fucked off by the Americans.

ah I dunno, Im just in a Welsh mood today
hey, Pat Van Den Hauwe played for Wales but he was Belgian

the germans werent trying to re-conquer europe during the ardennes offensive, hitlers generals were hoping to stall the yanks long enough to try work out a cease fire so they could concentrate on holding back the the russkies, fritz was pretty fucked by that time.

incidentally the british empire was the first, to use arial bombing on civilians, gas attacks on civilians and concentration camps but the germans wore black so obviously they were the real bad guys of the last century

phew, hard stuff.

well germans tend to learn a lot in school about WW2, sometimes too much. when you hear the same stuff over and over again, it really gets annoying. of course i do not deny the fact that germany's history has to be spoken about extensively. but it often turns out to be like: you are the baddies, you are guilty and you have to be ashamed of your country.
and that's quite a fuckup here, noone dares to be proud of his country like for example the french or the turks are. if you would be, you are automatically labelled nazi.
germany should learn to overcome this step in history, but not forget it. i don't feel guilty for what has happened, why should i? and still the old clichés are brought up over and over again. and in particular, because you've come up with it, noone dares to criticize all the bullshit going on in israel, just because if you do, you are a nazi. but it would be about time imo.

I always wondered from which point of view Angel of Death was written. I never thought Slayer were some kind of nazis, even though I have mixed feelings about one of their logos as well (the eagle). It would be stupid as Tom Araya is not exactly white.
Agree with you, sometimes bands should take care of the message they could deliver. Look at Marduk, I think that playing Black Metal and calling an album Panzer Division is not very clever.

Yes, I agree with you Dragonlady.

I had stereotypes concerning germans, was believing that they were all fat and beer addicted. But last year some german friends invited me for a week in Heidelberg, it was one of the nicest place I ever been, with kind people too.

hm, there isnt always a big sympathy between austrians and germans, we also hate it when being compared to germans, I guess its like france and belgium or ireland and england... but I also agree with u that there are really great places in germany and people there are really friendly :)

Oh yeah. Do you remember where you were when Maggie resigned? I do, in school..ran back at lunch time to tell everyone and the teachers were just smiling, (except for a few). It was ace! We all knew in school and it made an impact on the day. :hotjump:
