ATTN: Fantasy Football Players!

So how active are you guys at changing your players around? Do you do stuff like sub in a possibly weaker player if he will be playing against a team with a weaker defense, if the stronger player will be playing a team with a stronger defense? Stuff like that?

I'm participating in a random pub, so here's what it autopicked for me:

1. (6) Brian Westbrook RB
2. (15) Terrell Owens WR
3. (26) Antonio Gates TE
4. (35) Darren McFadden RB
5. (46) Pittsburgh DEF
6. (55) Ben Roethlisberger QB
7. (66) Donald Driver WR
8. (75) Neil Rackers K
9. (86) Jerricho Cotchery WR
10. (95) Eli Manning QB
11. (106) Kenny Watson RB
12. (115) Nate Burleson WR
13. (126) Tony Scheffler TE
14. (135) Sidney Rice WR
15. (146) Josh Brown K

I am currently dropping Rice, Brown and Watson and instead I am getting Phil DEF, Devin Hester and Mendenhall instead

I think that's a decent draft. I should have put some better RBs and WRs up in my pre-draft rankings, but there are a ton of good offensive players left.

Oh yes, you'd be stupid not to. Just look at it this way, the more points you score, the better chance you have at winning each week. If you substitute a guy and he only gives you a 1 point difference, that's still one point, and 1 point can go miles in fantasy football sometimes.

As for the kicker question which I didn't quote; kickers are the least important player on your roster. I laugh when I see people spend a pick on a kicker any earlier than the last two rounds. Take for instance Neil Rackers. Two years ago he was the most saught after kicker in the league. Last year, he was drafted by 30% of all fantasy leagues. Why? Because kickers aren't worth losing another pimp player over. I generally just find a kicker on a good team, like one of the top 10 teams in the league and deal with it. Carrying multiple kickers is a waste of a bench slot. Whenever your kicker is on a bye week, just find a replacement that is pretty decent on the free agent list and drop your current one. No one is going to be desperate enough to snatch your kicker from under you unless they just want to be an asshole. So more than likely your drafted kicker will be sitting there waiting after his bye week, and you can just reclaim him.

Bah! Apparently I was pretty dang noobish on the draft. I think I came out ok, but I imagine I could have had at least one more bad-ass player if I had done things differently.

I am sure after playing a season I will understand how to better work the draft next time.

I drafted my defense very early. What impact can a defense have, and when do people typically draft them?

A defense is the second least important spot on your roster in my opinion. Depending on the size of the draft (number of teams and roster slots), I generally draft defenses with one of my last 5 picks. Just depends how many scrubs are on the board and what defense you really want. Most people draft them way too early but even so, I always end up with a good one regardless. I prefer more consistent, trustworthy defenses, like Indy's. They didn't score the most points in the league last year for me, but they never gave me negative points either.

Yeah-Huh is Ender. Speaking of him, PAY ATTENTION ENDER! You have two roster spots you need to fill you nub.

Also, I made some changes to the league settings, be sure to read up on it.

If he doesn't add in two more players, I may be able to win the match. Sadly he has two less players and one to go on Monday night (although that player has NA next to him in red), and all my players are done, but I am only a few points ahead.

Michael Turner REALLY payed off this week. He scored like a QB! Like 51 points!

I am doing better than some teams.

I think my problems have a lot more to do with my lack of experience in FF than the number of Chargers I have. I drafted DEF is round 2 and a Kicker in round 8, and I picked a backup kicker. I only have three Chargers (incl. DEF), but they all started. I was entirely unfamiliar with how FF was scored. I thought score in real football meant score in FF. I wasn't familiar with how to use the FF site to do research on fan points for last season or the projected stats, and I am not into football enough to know the majority of good players out there. By the end I was just picking names. I learned a lot between the draft and the first weekend, but I messed up the draft.

Considering all that, I am doing ok.
