avi: yes, the japanese version is different and IMO a bit better, even if it's more creepy scary than "AH!" scary.

Ringu is a bit better but since almost every frame has been copied in the american version I wouldn't go out of my way to see it. It was on TV so I watched it..

Word, word. I saw it sometime last year and was thoroughly blown away. For some reason I've been thinking about it recently, wanting to see it again, and there just happens to be some dude on eBay who exclusively sells Shaolin Soccer DVDs for $6.50... not... suspicious... at all.
