this season is where it started getting fucking cool. I think they got a little stale after the 2nd season or so. all the meteorfreaks just got tiresome. but season five picked the fucker right back up. even some of season 4 showed promise.

but yeah. season six. JUSTICE LEAGUE. woo!

when smallville first aired its 1st episode
a huge number of fansites poped up pretty much over night
the writers/producers aren't going to admit this, but
all of the superpowers of the 2nd season meteor freaks, Tina Grier escaping Belle Reve, Whitney Fordman getting killed, those were all ideas stolen from the fans posting their ideas online
the 2nd season was pretty much fanfiction based on the 1st season

also
this new Justice League as it appears in Smallville is definitively the best incarnation of the Justice League...EVER!!!

no way. cyborg is not a leaguer. and green arrow is a bit out of character; he fights for the little guy, he's not some leader out to take out the big guns. hardly a strategist.

they put way too much batman in him. (which is understandable since it's still pretty much a silver age GA, which was the biggest bat rip off ever. arrowcave?)

the best JLA incarnation was either morrison's with plastic man, the cartoon version, or possibly this new one by meltzer.
(though, i should probably bone up on the year one version and the 70s/80s incarnations)

cyborg was the black guy that entered the justice league when the NAACP bitched about the justice league not having any black people in it (late 60s or early 70s i think)

i agree with you that green arrow is totally out of character, the way they did green arrow in Smallville, you could have just changed the name "oliver queen" into "bruce wayne" and Green Arrow would have been a really good Batman

which cartoon?
there have been several and one of them is still making episodes right now
the one from the late 90s was better than the others

haven't read the justice league comics since they killed Kyle Rayner and made the power ring attach itself to that new black guy to appease the NAACP again (i'm not racist, i don't have a problem with the idea of a black person in the justice league, i just think they should have re-animated the black guys from the 60s-80s instead of killing off Kyle Rayner)

cyborg is not a leaguer.
i think you might be getting "Cyborg" mixed up with "Steel"

in the first appearance of the Steel character, Steel saves the life of Superman when the villian character has green Kryptonite, and Superman offers Steel a position in the Justice League, and Steel insistantly refuses because he wants to be a solo hero

the first appearance of Cyborg was way, way earlier than that, the first appearance of Cyborg was DC comics putting a black guy in the justice league when the newly created NAACP bitched about the justice league being all white people

seriously, cyborg has never been in the league. they only recently even discussed the possibility in JLA #0 or #1.

check.

there's really only been one justice league cartoon. started as JL then turned into JLU. so yeah, late 90's.

kyle never died. hal jordan died. kyle took his place. john stewart's always been on backup. naaacp or whatever probably came in for the show and asked for a black dude to be put in. i don't mind; they wrote him very well.

i'm fairly certain steel first appeared in the death of superman arc. sorry, reign of the supermen. which is 90's.

cyborg first appeared with the titans. not the first line up, i know that much. he probably came shortly after or around starfire. i'd say late 70's/ sometime in the 80's.

you also might be thinking of black lightning or mister terrific. i remember seeing him on justice friends (BL).

i was obviously getting cyborg mixed up with one of the other black superheros in DC (cuz i pay attention to Marvel more than DC)

i was considering the "superfriends" (60s-early 70s i think) as a justice league cartoon, and i was considering this new cartoon with the characters in space as a totally seperate cartoon from the one where they're on earth

i remember hal jordan died cuz that's when i first started following the green lantern title, i saw hal die and i started following the adventures of the new guy kyle instead of trying to get all the back issues of hal

are you really sure kyle never died? i remember the KKK making a big deal about the creation of the black green lantern, and also when Hal Jordan came back to life (character Spectre entering Hal Jordan's corpse) a few months ago, a lot of people thought Kyle was dead and bitched (to me) about how DC re-animated Hal instead of Re-animating Kyle, but now you're telling me Kyle never died?

i'm not an expert on kyle. although I liked him a lot in the JLA series. but i do know he and ION have some history, and he became some god and restarted the lantern corps. i also know Ion currently has a series. maybe that's where kyle is right now.

the rein of Supermen arc was 91, i think

i think Cyborg was a guest character in like 1 episode of the 70s "superfriends" cartoon

these 2 guys were the ones created when the newly created NAACP bitched about the justice league being all-white

i read Kyle in the Green Lantern title when Hal died

i never read JLA title because i'm a Marvel fan and i always thought of the JLA as a lame version of Marvel's Avengers/X-Men

Kyle is a god now?
what the fucking hell?

justice league came before x-men and avengers. in fact, fantastic four was created in response to the justice league's success. wouldn't be surprised if x-men and stuff were, too.

and yeah. it's all on wikipedia. green lanterns seem to have a tendency to become gods. hal died that way, he became parallax, some crazy god, destroyed a city and OA.

green lantern continuity hurts me. i just prefer to see them with the league.

fantastic four and avengers were created as result of popularity of justice league

X-men was originally a social commentary, a non-comical parody of the civil rights movement

the mutants were representative of the black people
Proffessor Chorles Xavier was representative of Dr Martin Luther King
Magneto was representative of Malcolm X
Magmeto trying to have the mutants rule over the humans was representative of Malcolm X trying to have the blacks rule over the white people

when the character Spectre re-animated Hal's dead body the people got pissed off that it was Hal that got his body back instead of Kyle

i sort of remember Hal being somesort of god type thing called parallax and then his esscence getting shoved back into his human body but i don't remember Kyle getting turned into a god i just remember someone telling me that kyle had died and that this was the reason for the existance of the black guy that replaced him

The capacity for social commentary in Comic books is quite wonderful.

yeah, comic books have been crammed full of social commentary since comic books stopped being comical

nah. that's wrong. john stewart's been kicking around since the 70's or so. john replaced hal a few times too. he's a fill in! like the dark black empty space between stars... or something like that!
