ATTN: tobin1, please send me my Redeye or my $150

Thanks for the support guys (and Lasse), I sent him a facebook message with a link to this thread a few days ago and still have yet to hear nary a peep.

Still complete silence... Apparently he has been in contact with some people off here but it still doesn't seem likely he'll do anything... I wouldn't mind so much if he was sitting rotting in a crack den or something, but he seems to be going about business as usual, buying things and making music. In short: He's a dick!

Seriously fucked up, and I must thoroughly concur with your assessment

One of the most well-known scammers around here tried to rip me off for a $200 cab a while back, and he's still out there doing it.

Who?

Some new developments; I'll break 'em down into a timeline:

1/31 - 2/1 - He emails and PM's me, apologizing and explaining that he had a death in the family and there was a lot to take care of etc. I respond, offering my sympathies and saying "it's cool, send it whenever"; he responds, saying thanks for being understanding, he'll send it with a few other goodies as consolation for the delay, and:

It's ready and packaged I was just waiting on your go ahead to send it, Im heading to the shipping place today as SOON as i ship it I will e-mail you the tracking information and all of that jazz!"

*time passes, no word*

2/6 - I PM him, asking what's up (no response)

2/7 - I email him, asking what's up (no response)

2/9 - I email and PM him, saying this has to end, and reminding him that the Paypal dispute is still open (and 2/9 was his last day to respond)

And now, I got my fucking money back - thanks Paypal! :headbang::headbang::headbang: And if the Redeye + others happen to arrive, I'll of course send it straight back to the sender.

Marcus, just out of curiousity do paypal support these types of transactions fully? Or was it something they pulled out of the bag for you?

Paypal supports ALL of these transactions. Unless its sent "Gift" they wont refund money sent as a gift.

Yup, it seemed pretty "business as usual" to me - all the steps were outlined, deadlines were set (and not met), and the situation was "resolved in my favor"

Oh and Congrats Marcus .... in a GLAD YOU DIDNT GET COMPLETELY FUCKED kind of way.

Haha, thanks man, that's the nicest thing anyone's said to me in days

Great you got your money back, this kind of stuff is so frustating, i once got scammed by this kid on Ebay, i bought a cab off him, and he sent nothing, when i called the fucker, he said "Oh what?? you are calling from Mexico, to my fucking cellphone? fuckyou!" and hung up.. unfortunately Paypal only sent me half the price.

Most of you are quite young and probably never experienced how indescribably horrible it is when your beloved family members leave this world, so i will tell you... apart from the normal shock that makes you forget about your day to day life for a week or two, additional stress with all the paper work and organizing the funeral, there is often also the need to go far from home (sometimes even to another country) to attend the funeral, to spend some time with family etc. - simply said you are in a different reality for quite a long time.

[devils advocate mode off]

But of course this doesn't mean that there was no fault in how tobin1 handled this situation.
The worst thing was the lack of communication (maybe partially justified if it was just too painful for him to talk about how and why).

It doesn't mean you can't take a small package to the post office. And yes, in the last couple of years I've had a family member nearly miraculously fighting off lung cancer, a co-worker pass away, a good friend committing suicide and another OD'ing himself to Valhalla. So yeah, I have an idea of it.

My condolences to the person in question, and good for Marcus to get his money back.

Maybe you can, probably i can.

But people are different - you can't judge someone elses pain based on your own pain.

Maybe for him it was just impossible.

I agree completely. I think even if the death story is true, the lack of communication is still a bad thing and a simple "sorry I´ll get back to you" does much more than zero communication.
