Audiogalaxy sued.

those fagots, sueing one to another, just to stuff money in their fucking fat face. and who give a fuck about america's music community or "Brandy, Boys II Men, Dave Mathews Band, Celine Dion, Shakira, Enya, the Beatles, Shakira, Billy Joel, Destiny's Child, Alicia Keyes, James Brown, Linkin Park, Madonna, Jerry Leiber, Mike Stoller, Paula Cole, Lalo Schifrin, Henry Mancini, Johnny Mercer, and countless others."

litigation was a last resort after numerous out-of-court warnings to Audiogalaxy were ignored or resulted in half-hearted attempts to fix the problem.

what do they mean by this? It's quite hard to find a non-bootleg version of a popular song there. Most of the mayor label bands have already been banned, what else do these fucks want?

I would be really pissed if AG gets shut; it's by far the best source for underground music of all sorts out there. Dammit.

Fuck, this is really annoying.
Just because of this forum i learned about AG and through that i learned a lot of new bands, damn.

It's symply the best,i mean you just find everything,AG and the forums are almost the only reason i surf the net, so,please don't...

I only know I wouldn't have gotten into and bought (yes that's right, BOUGHT) cds by Opeth, Emperor, and In Flames if not for Napster. Also I wouldn't have bought cds by Eternal Tears of Sorrow, Myrkskog, and Wolverine if it weren't for AudioGalaxy.

If it does get shut down, there will always be a way to get mp3's. It's a lost cause even doing this.

You're missing the big picture.

Piracy won't EVER go away.

BUT... right now a big problem is that it's legitimate in the eyes of many, and very easy to use. Go to audiogalaxy, boom, there you are, nearly whatever you want. Take that away, don't make it EASY for people to just go to one centralized area, and you've cut down on a lot of it right there.

As for the people who say 'I buy because of it'... think for a minute. You care about music enough to be hanging around on a band's message board. YOU ARE NOT NORMAL, your behavior isn't close to being the norm of the average person. So projecting your behavior onto people who don't give a shit nearly as much doesn't make much sense to me...

Jim: It has been going on for quite a while, and has been seen as legitimate for that time in the eyes of many, and will continue to be seen as legitimate.

Yes, we care about music, which makes us the major buyers of it. Most of us will be making as much more music purchases than normal people. And I talk to other people, people who don't use these boards - and they also follow the "dl but buy" principle. I don't think it is as unusual as you make out.

Problem is, it isn't.

And I know people who love not having to buy CDs or pay for a movie ticket anymore. We can go round and round, but the BOTTOM LINE:

People who have the legal distribution rights to music don't approve of the fact that it's online and freely distributed this way.

So it has to end, and the lawsuits, and changes to laws, will continue until it does.

Son of a bitch!

This really sucks! If it wasn't for AG, I wouldn't know about half the bands that I listen to right now...it's great for downloading a few songs to check out whether the band is good or not, whether you should buy the CD or not, etc., etc. HUGE help...

I surely hope it's still running...it's truly a shame it has come to this. The program was FAR better than Napster ever was, that's for damn certain....

the question that comes to my mind: why don't they sue morpheus or kazaa? i mean, you can get warez, movies and childporn there. doesn't that bother those idiots? isn't childporn a bit more illegal than fucking mp3s?
geez...

Three guesses:

1- These aren't spontaneous kinds of things, the people suing probably spend a LOT of time gathering information for their case, it's not done on a whim.

2- It would cost a lot more money to go after more than one at a time. Take em out one at a time, the hope is those remaining get the clue and will close up before a lawsuit is necessary.

3- Soon.
