godfuck why can't anyone make a "basic" turntable that has a 45/33 switch button

it's the ONLY feature i want but because the basic high-end stuff (rega, etc.) DOES NOT HAVE IT i will be forced to get a plastic denon or sony instead

They are probably heresy...like tone controls. :loco: Although, they are starting to show up more again. You'd probably get some technical jargon about how it causes interference with the signal path.

i fail to understand how a mechanical switch would be any different than manually moving the belt :I

it sucks because when you go "low end high end" record players they are almost all regas. there's regas, there's nad (which is a rega), there's a local store brand called argon (which is also a rega, surprise surprise) and there's apparently the sumiko thing above

its all made by Sony anyway

I am in the midst of completely overhauling my current system. I figure that I'd make good use my bank account before I get married. :tickled:

That, and my B&W 683's swallow up my room. I'm going for monitors.

killer!
i see you spent a few weeks paychecks on speaker cables too :loco:

what speakers are those?

I actually bought the custom made Sound Anchor stands along with the speakers from some rich bastard who gave me an unbelievable deal. He only lives 30 minutes from me so I went over and picked em up. The speakers were made in February, the guy played them for 4 hours then decided he didnt want them. They have the new zobel network etc, so they were actually $3,200. I paid $1350 for them and sold my 683's for $950. So, I spent $400 on pretty much a brand new pair of SICK speakers.

I am blown away every fucking day by this new setup.

Hmm....a couple of major disappointments here: your speaker cables are waaayyyy too long and your outlet should be one with an isolated ground.
Horrible.

Just kidding.

Jesus Christ that is some expensive shit. Good on you for spending it before you get married and get all joint-bank-account and whatnot. Me? I bought a Miata.

Thought you guys would think it amusing that I recently received a little under $5000 from an annuity and I seriously thought about spending it on a sound system....for about one second. Then I remembered the kids would knock it over....and the wife doesn't let me listen to music anyway.
