I hadn't listened to Extol's Undeceived for about 3 years until tonight when I put it in on my way home. That's a really great album and quite under-appreciated. Some parts remind me of Gojira.

Undeceived is great, wicked riffing.

Morbid Angel - Gateways to annihilation. Haven't been listening to it in.... well, many many months :p, and today i listened it through probably 7 times at work. Even that album also has alot of Gojira-like moments.

how could anyone forget about gateways?:erk:

devin townsend - accelerated evolution - seems like this one kind of came in under the radar and didnt get much attention. fantastic album but nowhere near his earlier stuff. devin made his best music when he was fucked up, sadly. its true.

Yeah, more like Gojira uses a lot of MA influence.

yes, a lot of the gojira sound can be traced back directly to the first four morbid angel albums.

they are one of the rare death metal bands today that are good though. the influence of old bands is obvious but they give it a twist and make the sound their own.

Instead of just playing shit MA already played but at 50000 bmps like every other "extreme" death metal band that gets lauded as the next big thing.
