WTF is the difference between "Axis Longboard A" and "Axis Longboard X-L"? I read for the "A" that the longboard is stretched 2" for greater leverage and power. Looking at the two, the only difference I can visibly see is that the A's come with Sonic Hammer beaters, and the XL's come with normal beaters. Anyone know?

you can also adjust the position of the beater on the A somehow. i owned an a longboard once.

a longboard is a pedal board that is takes up the whole foot area, and does not have a foot plate.

The Axis A series feature the abilty to alter the position where the drive linkage attaches to the beater lever, which alters the feel and throw of the pedal. Similar to the differently shaped cams on the Pearl Eliminator.

The X series pedals have a fixed point linkage.

I knew that, just not the difference between the two versions of their longboards...

Muchas Gracias.

If you get the longboards, throw away the sonic hammers - they're useless. Get different hammers and some more memory locks/weights to securely lock them into place as I found different weighted hammers nudging their way off, no matter how tight I had them tightened with the screw on the pedal.

Yeah, they're very nice hammers - I think I saw someone do a Sonic Hammer mod using some Tama hammers a good while back...
I was thinking of selling my Axis and getting a set of Iron Cobra pedals, but ever since moving and now actually having a place to setup my acoustic kit - I'm liking the Axis more and more. I found that my seating position played a huge role.

yeah from just messing around on my drummers kit i realised if you sit to close(to the point where your kness are over your shins) its alot harder to play. sitting a bit farther back and higher up seems like there more control.

I've never been able to play like that no matter what pedals I'm using. :p I sit that close and it feels like I'm starting to hump the snare. :ill:
