Per Cinescape.com:

Director Noam Murro has departed from DreamWorks' sequel to THE RING due to creative differences. The studio is now trying to lock in a new helmer and announce the move as soon as possible. Considering that THE RING 2 is still slated for release on November 10, that is a good thing.

why do studios always fuck up sequels? Seriously, they should learn to keep their noses out because the person who made the first one successful can likely make the second one successful, too.
Because Studios are ONLY interested in huge returns. If an independant was producing this film I'm sure the film would have a very different tone and possibly audience.

These remakes, Ring, Texas, Psycho are simply aimed at the "SCREAM" crowd which is a huge cash cow for a large studio. Money followed by Shock and Awe then boot 'em out for the next audience and repeat. That's their formula.

I didn't get the need to remake Psycho. It's perfection as is, so if you automatically know you're going to fail in surpassing it, then why bother I ask? How did anyone think this would be a good idea? I haven't seen it, and I bet most people haven't, but did you know that the director shot the remake scene by scene, verbatim, down to the exact same light settings in the studio? WHY?

I think I'd rather accept this recent fascination with remaking films in a "reimagined" manner, even if Tim Burton's Planet of the Apes was ridiculous.
