I know, it may be hard for some of you to admit you listen to ballads, let alone like any...lol. But I was wondering what some of your favorites are. Ill start with a few...........

Y&T......Winds of Change
Dio.......As long as Its not about Love
Dokken.......Walk away
Skid Row...........Quicksand Jesus

Btw......what constitutes a ballad exactly??? You dont have to cry in your beer do you?... :p

A few that come to mind...

Annihilator - Phoenix Rising
Evergrey - For Every Tear That Falls
Helloween - Longing
Lake of Tears - Crimson Cosmos & The Homecoming
Pain of Salvation - Dryad of the Woods
Savatage - Alone You Breathe
WASP - Hold on to My Heart

...but there must be quite a few more...
I like those Skid Row ballads too.

And no, I don't think you have to cry in your beer...

well I narrowed it down to ten songs........My top ten at this time

#10) def leppard: where does love go when it dies..... Just love the acoustic as well as the way the song was arranged.....

# 9) Iced Earth: watching over me..... when your best friend dies it would be tragic...nice to know even heavy metalers can have a heart

#8) skid row:wasted time.........when the video came out years ago I thought it fit the song perfectly...another song about afriend...and yes I consider it a ballad

#7)Angel dust: when I die......... I have always had these thoughts throughout my life...glad they could make a song of it! what happens when we die??

#6)rough silk:never lose again......love is tough....but to make a stand is even tougher!

#5)stratovarious : before the winter......... the atmosphere in this song is amazing...great song

#4)savatage :...... If I go away.....has the same feeling to me that when I die has.....makes you think about what you will leave behind.....friends, family

#3)savatage:.... all that I bleed...........dark, yet beautiful what else is there to life??

#2) angeldust: liquid angel............. the song gives me goose bumps....one of my alltime favorites

and now my favorite of all time

#1) angeldust:.. still I am bleeding.........when someone goes to war regarless of which side they are on....do they love any less?.............knowing you may never see the one you love again....damn that would hurt!

thanks to Iced spirit for the thread..........hope you all don't get bored reading this........ha ha ha

Sorry, but right now I am totally not in the mood for ballads !!!
I could name hundreds, but not now

well, actually you get two very sad ones:
Majestic - Standing Alone
Beholder - Until Darkness Falls

undfortunately Haypocrisy and CoB make no ballads ....

Hypocrisy - Paled Empty Spheres, can I consider that a ballad? :D amazing song btw.

Children of Bodom - uh......yeah not ballads hehe.

AH I LOVE BALLADS! Ballads by definition are songs that tell a story. But I usually consider them generally soft songs with a deep meaning.

Fuck your the man 13 wolf, i wish I had AG to check out most those songs. Still Im Bleeding is amazing, as is Watching Over Me, prolly one of my all time fav ballads, that song is AMAZING live.

Oh yeah dont mind me, im just a psserby

/me runs off...

Final Vision, hey, nice to see ya on board :)

I have so many "ballades" I have to think about it which are most important to me... I come back to write it down. :)

 @ Final_Vision (finally made his way over here..)

Yeah, ballads. I wanted to think of some just like Silkie said...but of course I haven't yet
Sure I like the ballads of some of my fave bands such as Savatage, Angel Dust, ........(could of on for a long time probably)
One particular song that comes to my mind now is "Innocent eyes" from Annihilator. It's not that the song itself rules so much but what he sings touches me.

Corny, you must be one of the laziest guys around......
The song is on the album "Refresh the demon" and Waters wrote it when one of his kids (his first kid?) was born.

These are the lyrics:

so precious and new, I see the innocent little eyes
I'll always be there, I'll always be there to hear your cries
the way you've changed my life
from the very first day you were born
you give me the answer to what it's all for
I worry for you as I look into the future
all the things that you've shown me, it's almost as if you
were a messenger
the way you've changed my life
from the very first day you were born
you give me the answer to what it's all for
want to hold you, so come, in my arms
want to feel you and keep you from harm
I knew from the start that you could steal my (heart)

That should be one of the most normal things in life but it isn't.

I personnaly love ballads with strong and dark feelings, with very emotionnal content.
I'm not into Stryper or Edguy ballads for example ;)

Last year I made 3 tapes compilations of my fave ones for my former girlfriend, I still have the track list :)

so here's a copy past below and some notes lol
