Things like

-drums mixed in louder than normal
-use of drums bigger(bassier/lower) than the standard bass drum
-use of tribal drums or other unusual/non-standard drums
-anything where the drums just sound more unique or kickass than normal

Please no recs just because a band has really fast or really technical drumming. Fast and Technical is fine, as long as you're recommending it for one of the traits I mentioned above and it just happens to also be fast or technical.

really fucking obvious, but...Behemoth - Demigod. Gold standard for drum sounds, imo.
Sepultura used tribal stuff on Roots...too bad it sucked
Manowar's drummer allegedly uses stainless steel drums so he won't break them...

Slayers South Of Heaven had a really strong emphasis on the symbols for some reason. No complaints here but it was different than most albums ive heard.

^ that. Andy C. fucking kicks ass in Wormed. Also LOL @ DEMIGOD BEING GOLD STANDARD FOR DRUMS WTF!? Horrible!!

Check out Arckanum for good BM drumming. It's raw, contemplative, and naturalistic, but Shamaatae was in Grotesque in his younger years and it shows because he's EXCELLENT.

Also Lykathea Aflame. Tomas Corn is fantastic on drums on Elvenefris. They may have an annoying TONE at first, but he's just a great all-around drummer and complements the music perfectly.

Pitbulls in the Nursery - because of how well the drums are mixed and how unique the drummer is and how unique his drums sound.
