Well there's no one quite like Power Quest ;)

But bands you might like:

Arthemis (two of the PQ guys are in that band)
Cellador (you might not like American metal but these guys are DragonForce-y)
Dionysus (awesome euro power metal)
Edguy (early stuff)
Freedom Call (worth another mention, Eternity is a must for PM fans)
Galneryus (epic Japanese power metal)
Luca Turilli (Prophet of the Last Eclipse is heavenly)
Stratovarius (more euro power metal)

thanks guys, ill have them all a listen

Dream theater is actually an American metal group i like, most of the bands over here are on the death metal side. Depresses me, I need the uplifting conquering evil lyrics!

According to last.fm, similar artists include:

Altaria

Power metal bands that make it into my top 50 played artists are (excluding PQ):
Blind Guardian - German power metal
Sonata Arctica - Finnish power metal
Helloween - German power metal
Manowar - American true metal with power elements
Avantasia - German power metal with many guest musicians, first 2 albums are heavy metal operas
HammerFall - Swedish power metal
Gamma Ray - German power metal
Iced Earth - American power/thrash metal
Stratovarius - Finnish power metal
Nocturnal Rites - Swedish heavy power metal
Ayreon - Dutch metal, rock operas & concept albums

LOST HORIZION!!! THEY TOTALLY ROCK! www.myspace.com/thelosthorizon
they are also really uplifting and one of my first power metal bands, wait till the lyrics come in ,its so epic!! i dont know wheather it was the fact i heard them first taht i like them so much, but i think they are very underrated.

also i dont know how i managed to forget a band i promote,
AdiastasiA they are fairly similar to angra, they are good!!
www.myspace.com/adiastasiametal

Insania(Stockholm), they are very great!
Powerworld, it's a new band from germany
Dark Moor
Domine
Dreamtale
Excalion
Moonlight Agony

Fairyland. LISTEN TO FAIRYLAND.

Don't bother with their Of Wars In Osyrhia album. It's good, but average. Their album The Fall Of An Empire is one of the most epic things I've ever listened to. Max Leclercq gives an AMAZING vocal delivery on the album.

Also, listen to Aquaria. Both of their albums, Luxaeterna and Shambala, have been fucking class releases.

Both bands are symphonic metal done right - it's much more orchestral and interesting than Rhapsody, which is more of baroque neo-classical metal, if anything.

This I agree with. They are playing on my iPod at any given time day or night...and I've seen them all but one, I wish HammerFall would tour!
Oooh, I'd love to see any of them. Did you enjoy them? They're my three favourite bands, and the only ones I listen to :D :headbang::headbang::headbang:
