im still pissed that i never hear any thrax, pantera, blue oyster cult, and slayer.
i think them and many other bands definetly deserve a regular rotation

Modern-day corporate radio sucks lizard shit. Their playlists are thinner than an Ethiopian's waistline - if it doesn't have a hint of being commercial, it has no prayer in hell of getting airplay.

That's what I love about my gig at a community radio station. So long as I follow the FCC guidelines, I can play whatever the hell I want, and I purposely try to stay away from stuff you can hear on any of these cookie-cutter stations. I know over the past few weeks, I've played both "Godzilla" and "See You In Black" from BOC, "Only" and "Indians" from Anthrax and I don't remember which Pantera song I played. (Guilty on the Slayer, though.) I've also dug out other groups that deserve airplay, like Wishbone Ash, UFO, Rainbow, Nazareth (other than "Hair Of The Dog")... lots of stuff that at least I think is cool. So, there is hope outside of ClearChannel's grasp.

Whiplash and MetalThrasher, I know you guys aren't terribly far from me. PM me, and I'll send you the link to the station, so you can listen to my show on streaming audio. (We're a small station, so the signal doesn't travel very far... except on the Internet, thank God.)

There is this one band, tripolar. they are like hard rock. They get no love. I think it is because all their members were in shitty bands before they started rocking together. But now they are making some awesome hard rock and nobody seems to care. But they will always have my props, awesome rock band.

shit i grew up listening to WLUP (the loop) in chicago i think i heard blue oyster cult at least once a day.

"black betty" by ram jam and "hocus pocus" by focus should get more airplay though. i beat the hell out of my dashboard anytime one of those songs comes on.

"crazy train" and "stairway to heaven" should never be played on the radio again .

hey dailyvault do you remember WMET ?

Vaguely - I think that's where Scott Loftus got his start. If my memory is right, he was fired, then went on to start "Real Precious Metal" on WVVX.

I was into WLS as a kid - the salad days of Larry Lujack and Tommy Edwards. Sad to say, but as a kid I listened more to WFYR 103.5.

You're right about the Loop playing the occasional BOC... problem is they still play the same one or two songs. Pretty much guaranteed it'll either be "Don't Fear The Reaper" or "Burnin' For You". Maybe I'll dust off "Secret Treaties" for Tuesday night's show.

Well the Loop might do a deep cuts weekend and dust off "Godzilla".
WMET used to be just like the Loop in the late 79 to early 86 i believe. they used to do all the concerts and shit in chicago. i think they sponsered Maiden's Piece of Mind tour stop in chi-town

shit the Loop still plays the songs it played when i was in high school. i don't think they've bought a new cd since the mid 80's.
