I do have some questions?
Why Nevermore?
Why Glam/Hair Bands?
What about KD?
Do you listen to anything recent? In this decade?
I knew this was coming...
Nevermore. I can't stand the vocalist, I hate how they destroy 'Love Bites' in the JP tribute, and I do believe they are overrated. Is not a band to die for, the musicians as as average as any other band around,
my subjective opinion.
Glam/hair bands. Same as grunge, mallcore, black. To me their represent all that metal shouldn't be, is all music that irritates me, drives me away from what metal should be, and I don't believe they were such good musicians or their records astounding. And I pass through all of them in due time: Bon Jovi (they're part of the bunch even if some people say no), Cinderella, Motley Crue, Ratt, Poison, Bullet Boys, Warrant, Faster Pussycat, L.A. Guns, etc. Even Whitesnake and Celtic Frost jump in the wagon at at certain time. Mousse in the hair, flamboyance, eyeliner, lipstick, androgynity, and bragging about sex was more important than to play hard and loud. I make a big exception with Skid Row (have all their classical albums), I believe that along Guns'N'Roses they tried a different approach (only GNR bored me quickly after their second album) to USA 80's rock and that was good. I also put aside Dokken (which I don't like), early Def Leppard (that was NWOBHM), W.A.S.P (that was too crude for being glam) and Twisted Sister (that was too clowny and funny, besides they have real hard songs). But sorry, 'Round and Round', 'Bad Medicine', 'Girls, Girls, Girls', 'Every Rose Has Its Torn', 'Nobody's Fool', represent all that I dislike in rock/metal,
my subjective opinion.
King Diamond: The guy knows how to compose and both Mercyful Fate and his solo band are full of extraordinary musicians in guitar, bass and drums. But a guy in makeup (ala KISS) undecided to sing normally, growling or with a horrible falsetto, sorry I can't stand that mix-mess. If he wants to sing low and hard find with me, if he wants to sing high-pitched fine with me, I only ask for him to do it one of them ALL the time, I can't stand those changes, again, and again, and again. I don't believe MF or his solo band are overrated, I believe Kim Bendix Peterson is overrated as himself, he is not that great singer,
my subjective opinion.
And for the record: I do like some Motley Crue songs, some Mercyful Fate songs, some King Diamond songs.
If I had hear recently on this decade what? Glam/hair (no, still exist?

), Nevermore (yes, still don't like it), KD (yes, not even "The Puppet Master" change my mind).
BTW, I recommend you "Force of Evil", great metal, all musiciand from KD/MF field and a singer that I DO like and everybody else bash. And even if I know is a side project I believe they have been
underrated by the "establishment" and I hope they continue...
my subjective opinion.
Never played by the rules I never really cared
My nasty reputation takes me everywhere
I look and see its not only me
So many others have stood where I stand
We are the young so raise your hands
They call us problem child
We spend our lives on trial
We walk an endless mile
We are the youth gone wild - Skid Row 1989
Peace
