Bands that should NOT have made it

Because I think Slayer are a band who didn't deserve anywhere near the success they have. Totally overrated, there are tons of better thrash bands with singers who can actually sing in time with the music and guitarists who can actually

oh dear, you just got in my blacklist of my "who to kill next" persons...
Slayer rules !!! (and AC/DC   )

but don't worry, I agree on the Bon Jovi side of the story. I'm not a fan but I must say I was very impressed with their live performance, unlike the G&R , who were lucky to have some proffesional background vocals and guest musicians to keep 'm up to producing somewhat decent sound...

Gotta agree on Manowar. I think they suck.

hehehehehe I love Manowar But I agree with Sinner on the Bon Jovi thing so we are even there The band that really gets me is poison! Poison Killed glam metal/rock IMO lol along with Jovi, Oh and I love Slayer so we are still even

yes, Manowar absolutely KILL. At least their first 4 albums are heavy metal monuments, and these guys wrote some classic hymns (Bridge Of Death, Secret Of Steel, Blood Of My Enemies etc etc) and the best epic metal music in the world. "Hail To England" and "Into Glory Ride" in the top 10 metal albums ever. And Eric Adams is one of the best singers ever.

Right on! I'm glad I decided to Unignore you when I did! Eric is incredible one of my all time favorite singers he can sound beautiful or very ugly and make it sound flawless I personally like all the records even "Warriors of the word" which most people hated lol But I must Agree with you about "Hail.." and "Glory ride" those are 2 Excellent albums

Manowar kinda created the epic metal sound (with Warlord), love them or hate them but they had a strong personality / unique sound and singer, and I think they deserve their success because of that, or at least their past success ;)

Same for Nevermore, King Diamond, UDO, etc. :p

Otherwise let's rename this thread in "name the bands you don't like".

Sinner Rider ain't in my good books anymore after that Bon Jovi comment...

Hahaha! Sorry! I didn't want to offend anyone. Bon Jovi is just always been on my shitlist! But wasn't trying to get on yours! I'm sure there are many bands we could agree on.

But Van Halen? Nah they deserved every bit of their success. Extremely talented and influencial band.

Plus I generally think a comment like "All hair/glam bands" and "All mallcore bands" etc is silly. Basically you're just posting what stuff you don't like, that doesn't mean the bands aren't good at it.

Because I think Slayer are a band who didn't deserve anywhere near the success they have. Totally overrated,
Thanks Trixx, you made my point EXACTLY! This whole threrad (and those alike) are all about subjective approach to the band music.

I don't like Slayer (at all) but I believe they're not overrated, and I do believe Van Halen is hyper-overrated.

And yes I did generalize some sub-genres because I don't like them and I do believe they're bad at what they're doing and they are overrated, because is MY opinion.

So bottom line. EVERY SINGLE OPINION IN THIS THREAD IS SUBJECTIVE TO THE POSTER, and therefore the value of them is as much as ANYOTHER person wants to give.

So a piece of advice, let's try to avoid this type of threads in the future, and/ or let's take them with a

I do have some questions?
Why Nevermore?
Why Glam/Hair Bands?
What about KD?
Do you listen to anything recent? In this decade?

I knew this was coming...

Nevermore. I can't stand the vocalist, I hate how they destroy 'Love Bites' in the JP tribute, and I do believe they are overrated. Is not a band to die for, the musicians as as average as any other band around, my subjective opinion.

Glam/hair bands. Same as grunge, mallcore, black. To me their represent all that metal shouldn't be, is all music that irritates me, drives me away from what metal should be, and I don't believe they were such good musicians or their records astounding. And I pass through all of them in due time: Bon Jovi (they're part of the bunch even if some people say no), Cinderella, Motley Crue, Ratt, Poison, Bullet Boys, Warrant, Faster Pussycat, L.A. Guns, etc. Even Whitesnake and Celtic Frost jump in the wagon at at certain time. Mousse in the hair, flamboyance, eyeliner, lipstick, androgynity, and bragging about sex was more important than to play hard and loud. I make a big exception with Skid Row (have all their classical albums), I believe that along Guns'N'Roses they tried a different approach (only GNR bored me quickly after their second album) to USA 80's rock and that was good. I also put aside Dokken (which I don't like), early Def Leppard (that was NWOBHM), W.A.S.P (that was too crude for being glam) and Twisted Sister (that was too clowny and funny, besides they have real hard songs). But sorry, 'Round and Round', 'Bad Medicine', 'Girls, Girls, Girls', 'Every Rose Has Its Torn', 'Nobody's Fool', represent all that I dislike in rock/metal, my subjective opinion.

King Diamond: The guy knows how to compose and both Mercyful Fate and his solo band are full of extraordinary musicians in guitar, bass and drums. But a guy in makeup (ala KISS) undecided to sing normally, growling or with a horrible falsetto, sorry I can't stand that mix-mess. If he wants to sing low and hard find with me, if he wants to sing high-pitched fine with me, I only ask for him to do it one of them ALL the time, I can't stand those changes, again, and again, and again. I don't believe MF or his solo band are overrated, I believe Kim Bendix Peterson is overrated as himself, he is not that great singer, my subjective opinion.

And for the record: I do like some Motley Crue songs, some Mercyful Fate songs, some King Diamond songs.

If I had hear recently on this decade what? Glam/hair (no, still exist? ), Nevermore (yes, still don't like it), KD (yes, not even "The Puppet Master" change my mind).

BTW, I recommend you "Force of Evil", great metal, all musiciand from KD/MF field and a singer that I DO like and everybody else bash. And even if I know is a side project I believe they have been underrated by the "establishment" and I hope they continue...my subjective opinion.

Never played by the rules I never really cared

My nasty reputation takes me everywhere

I look and see it’s not only me

So many others have stood where I stand

We are the young so raise your hands

They call us problem child

We spend our lives on trial

We walk an endless mile

We are the youth gone wild - Skid Row 1989

Peace
