The title says it all. For me, three bands stand out. Artillery. Destruction. Onslaught. Their stuff from the 80s were gold, but some of the albums suffer from such awful production it's hard to enjoy them. I feel their post 2000 albums were just so much stronger and the songwriting better. What say you?

Pentagram - going by Wikipedia, they were inactive between 1990-1993 before they even released the great Be Forewarned. Though I prefer the 2nd half of their discography overall, with Last Rites from 2011 being my fav album of theirs - released after they'd been inactive again between 2005-2008.

The Accüsed - my fav album from them is their most recent one from 2009. New vocalist and different production which sounds a bit darker. More on the metal side of crossover thrash. They were on hiatus from about 1994-2003.

Ange Dust.

The first two albums ('86-88) were a not bad thrash, but nothing spectacular. The first three albums after the hiatus ('98-00) are amazing.

Coroner.

Ho!! Wait!! Yes, their previous albums are already amazing, but the comeback album from last year, 'Dissonance Theory' blew my freaking mind!
