baseball

I got Eric Davis' autograph in... '89 maybe, in the parking garage off Riverfront. He wasn't very friendly, but he signed for quite a while.

That was back in the day when my dad took me on a tour which ended up in Cooperstown. ( Who here's been to Cooperstown? )

A better story than the ED autograph, is after a Reds / Pirates game at Three Rivers when I was off looking for autos and my Dad was just talking to some guy about the game. I saw this guy talking to my Dad and got all excited. It was Chris Sabo! I didn't know what to do other than what I had been doing all week. I asked him for an auto, but I didn't realise that I gave him a ball with a Pirates logo.

I'm willing to bet that I'm the only one here with a baseball with a Pirates logo with Chris Sabo's signature on it.

The first MLB game to which I went, I hit my head on one of those steel beams at Tiger Stadium on the way to my seat. I didn't see the game because I was in the first aid hut.

Bla bla bla baseball rules.

Ive been to Cooperstown, don't really remember much of it though. I remember more of the next day when we went to Niagra Falls, that was a little more interesting. (not really much of a museum person)

Yeah I am a huge baseball fan. I still play, in fact I used to play Independent League for a year(Chillicothe Paints)- but my ass was on the bench most of the time. I even had a tryout with the Reds set up through my old Babe Ruth League coach. Helps when you are a left handed pitcher who throws in the mid 80s. Not trying to sound all special or anything, just that I am a decent pitcher, and it pisses me off when I see the Reds with guys that cant throw as hard as I, nor have any understanding how to pitch.

Who would play that. Play a mans sport like cricket :D
[watching Cricket on British TV]
Peter : What the hell is he talking about?

Englishman: Oh, it's Cricket. Marvelous game, really. You see, the bowler hurls the ball toward the batter who tries to play away a fine leg. He endeavors to score by dashing between the creases, provided the wicket keeper hasn't whipped his bails off, of course.

Peter : Anybody get that?

Cleveland : The only British idiom I know is that "fag" means "cigarette."

Peter: Well, someone tell this "cigarette" to shut up.

I use to watch a some people play cricket. Yeah, gay "sport" (if it can be called that).

At least the Astros are making a run for the wildcard.

My home team of course, the mighty Arizona Diamondbacks :headbang: It's been a shitty year with their money problems and everybody and their mother getting hurt, but I stand by my team.

#2 is Boston. I'm an extreme anti-Yankee, and Boston's gonna fuck them up this year.

I predict a St. Loius/Boston Series, and I'd call it a toss up. I hope Boston pulls it off. If there's one team in the majors with the pitching to slow down the Cardinals bats, it's the Sox.

I'm a Red Sox fan.

They've made the division race respectable, but are going to fall a bit short. At least they now know where they stand, and can prepare to be the wild card.

There are some interesting races still going on. The A's are falling apart, and the Angels have moved into 1st in the AL West. The Astros are playing well and making a bid for the NL Wild Card, and the Cubs are doing their best to lose it. As long as Bonds' Giants don't get in...

metu: I always liked Tiger Stadium. I've never been there, but whenever I saw it on tv, I found it to be one of the most interesting and classy places to see a game played. Stadiums like that are attractions themselves, and as far as I know, it is still standing. I hope they don't tear it down.

I change one of my previous predictions: St. Louis vs Boston in the series won't be a toss-up. Boston's gonna crush them. :headbang:

David Ortiz.

Boom.

I stand by my original prediction from a month and a half ago. Cards/Sox. They can pull it off....

And I say again:

David Ortiz.

Boom.

I'm going to go completely opposite of you, and pick an Astros/Yankees series.

As much as I'd like the Sox to make it, I don't think they can pull off three more wins. It's never been done before (I could be wrong), and I think that trend will continue.

If the Astros win tonight, they have a very good shot at going to the Series, but it rests entirely on tonight's game. I think tonight's winner will end up winning the NLCS.

I am a Cardinal Fan and I am predicting a Win for the Redbirds tonight.
But these Astros are a kick-ass team and you can't count them out.
I still think it will be Yanks///Cards. I don't see anyone beating the Yanks though. ):

Astros now lead 3-2 going back to St. Louis. What a game. Beautiful pitching and defense by both teams.

David Ortiz is unreal.

Clutch, clutch, clutch.

I sat at the bar downing Heienekens and watched every pitch surrounded by Yankee fan scum, other than one guy in a Boston cap. We went nuts while the rest shook their heads. I didn't think last night could be topped. Wrong, I was.

Uh oh, the Evil Empire has one game left! It's like watching the Death Star about to explode..... :hotjump: :hotjump: :hotjump:
