Hey

are some guys here who put a limiter on bass?

i tried it
but the result is only an undefined humming bass in the background.

EDIT: oh -___- wrong forum .. move this thread please ! sorry

I limit my bass tracks all the time. If you're having issues with limiting to the point of "unidentified humming" you should split the bass in to two tracks and treat them separately. LP one track at 200Hz and limit the fuck out of it so you have a nice, solid low end. For the other track, HP at around 200Hz and apply a bit of overdrive to bring it out. EQ and compress to taste. This should help get a bass sound that has solid low end but also stands out in the mix.

thanks =)

but i already did this (i always do ) and i didn't work =/

i think i stay with a comp

Don't use limiters myself, used too, but discovered staged compression does the job better for punchy and pre-distorted bass. If basss was still jumping around a little bit, I would go for some mild settings on L1.

I used to limit bass track but now I don't. maybe I did it wrong. somehow the limiter made my bass volume sound consistent but also made the the bass sound a bit weird and unnatural. so now I use compressor and multiband compressor instead.
