I just hate to see SA be killed and have Finntroll saved... same with Opeth. Opeth are a great band, I respect them, but I have yet to hear one fast song (except for the cover of Circle of Tyrants)... they've all be slow, 10 minute songs with whisper vocals and acoustics mixed with some great growling and electric guitar... when I am in the mood, I love Opeth songs, but you can't love slow shit all the time. I can't anyways. I feel Sonata instrumentally are a better band, any guitar players confirm or deny this?

All down to preference, if you prefer more unique chord structuring with very heartfelt and bluesy influenced solos then you'll prefer Opeth. But if you prefer VERY VERY VERY standard chord progressions (believe me, SA's rythm guitar parts are sooooooooooooooo boring
) with fucking amazing technical solos, then you'll prefer SA.

Erm... Iron Maiden lyrics are very joke-satanic at times and are often based on fiction. SA lyrics are lulz most of the time too. Not to mention new CoB lyrics are about as immature as it gets

I don;t play guitar personally, but I know a lot of people who would beg to differ. I think Tony would if he was here, not sure though. But IRL I have a lot of friends whoa re OMG SONATA IS GAY but after a while they respect the guitars and they love playing it. Meh. I don't care.

Meh, I am listening to The Drapery Falls right now after that. I had to clean my fucking ears and remind myself Opeth do have some epic songs. That was like some Slayer abortion with JFACish vocals. Also was kind of typical, 1 minute metal, one minute acoustic back and forth.
