Battlefield 3 PC Beta!?

I think the amount health the player has needs to be increased. It's great to be able to lay out several guys in one burst, but it's hard to get out of a gunfight to pull off a counterattack when you get laid out within 3 or so shots. This is a really big deal if you don't have a tip top connection, so sometimes I get laid out in one bullet, at least on my screen. I do like how fast paced it is though, Rush feels really intense.

there are enough games where you can't tell if there is someone shooting in front or behind you,
in BF3 every sound source is easy to locate, this makes it sound really good in general.
I am having the opposite experience, I can't hear shit.
That's why I'm sure it has to be an issue on my end, creative are shit with their drivers.

haha, i think the weapons are to weak/unbalanced.
i just hit a guy twice with a sniper rifle and nothing happened...then he shot randomly almost a full mag at me (at a larger distance) and i died,
this is so....:err:

@ratsapprentice
must be your soundcard, i never liked creative :D

Well the sniper rifles I'd suppose are weak. I meant the assault rifles. I get regularly owned by the M16.

Tried it on xbox 360 as well. I think it's horrible... Graphics are pretty bad. I fell through the floor like 10 times, the screen flashes constantly due to buggy graphics, the gameplay sucks balls... I was really hoping for a BF1942 kind of "big cooperative" feel... it just feels like MW/Black OPS in bigger maps with vehicles to me...

I have about six hours of game time clocked and I've fell through the ground once :O

Really? I've played for like 20 minutes, I was still trying to understand the controls, went into prone, bam, underneath the whole friggin map, and found loads of spots that you could clip through, all accidently. The main ones are when something blows on the floor and it creates a dent (or was it an actual dent on the map?), I still didn't have time to see if explosions cause dents on the floor?

The environment damage is not as extreme on the Rush maps, for obvious reasons, the linearity could get fucked up.

With the amount of feedback that dice is being given regarding the lack of menu/retardation of what there actually is and the relative ease with which it can be solved, I will be MASSIVELY dissapointed if DICE don't fix it.

@Max: Well yeah, but EA is the fucking evil of games. They see someone profiting from a really WELL DONE platfrom (Steam) and decide 2000 years after to try and copycat to get a piece of that pie, fuck that shit. Origin is a piece of shit and you know it :p
Yeah true. Never wanted to say Origin is good. I like the chat function but Steam is way better at that and like every PC gamer has it already, so... :D
I like the Battlelog, but that's no part of Origin per se, and could be had easily without it.

And yes, I hate EA and how they dictate developers to implement shit in their games. The others aren't really better, though: Ubisofts policy with the Ubi Launcher is even worse. The servers are down every few hours and I couldn't play Assassins Creed for a week once. Real cool, a singleplayer game and you have to be online at every time, otherwise you can't do anything. Good job, Ubisoft.

By the way, the clipping and falling through the ground bugs are long fixed for the final release, they just don't update the Beta client. I had that tons of times and it's annoying, but it depends on the servers also. Some servers have it constantly and on others it didn't even happen once.

Yeah it's ridiculous. The funny thing is they always stress how far more important the console sales are and how few people play PC anymore (riiight) and some games don't even come out on PC "because it's not worth it". But at the same time, they make ridiculous copyprotection apps and prevent the people paying for the game from playing it the way they're supposed to be. For example.. on a laptop while you're on a 5 h trip in the train. Not possible unless you have internet connection for like 3/4 of all new games, even offline / singleplayer.
If PC is so unimportant for the sales, why bother with the piracy protection? Those few dollars shouldn't be worth it anyway... or is the PC market more important than they like to admit?

The pc market is actually vital to video game development as far as I'm concerned.
It's in the big publisher's interests to support and sustain it.
The graphics/hardware arms race would grind to a stuttering, limp drag without pc games.
The four/five year gap in between console generations is where the "next gen" is actually defined and planned.
Without it developers would struggle to make the most of new technology at the beginning of a console cycle, there would be a big feeling out period while they get to grips with the new capabilities.

OH LOOK, A FUCKING MENU!!!

Origin and battlelog are absolute shit. Worst idea EA/DICE has ever come up with. Graphics are fuckin' awesome and it runs well on my ~$600 computer, I will say that. The multiplayer is somewhat fun, but buggy. Weapons are extremely unbalanced. Marines are stuck with MARPAT while the Ruskies get green and black camo, they blend into environments much better. Everyone is trying to play the game like it's Call of Booty, and that's what pisses me off the most, it makes the game incredibly unenjoyable. I wish there was more destruction, but apparently it was causing too many bugs so large-scale destruction was turned off. Haven't experienced too many bugs myself, except for horrid pop-in that keeps me from seeing enemies half the time. I'll be buying BF3 solely for single-player and co-op.

The bugs in that video account for more than half my deaths per game. That and the fact that I often have no control over my character, getting constantly shoved around by other people and weird terrain, piss me off to no end. If all these issues get fixed (and honestly, non-broken gameplay is NOT a big ask) I'll probably buy the full the thing.

Played the beta on xbox360 - I´m not very impressed, but the video Kimon posted looks very nice.

What do you guys think about MW3...what is your assessment? I don´t know what game I should buy. Probably I will end owning both then.

I played the Beta twice, then uninstalled it. I honestly can say I liked the Alpha better. The only improvements I noticed from Alpha was knife kills and spawning on squad members. The browser based shit really pisses me off, so not only does the game have to run, but so does my browser and origin. Origin serves no purpose whatsoever, is there even a fucking in game overlay like steam? shit is shit. I will not worry about buying this junk, steam only plz.
