Battlefield 3 PC Beta!?

According to a leak from a Valve employee the game will be available on steam just in time for launch, if so I will definitely cancel my pre-order, and re-do it through steam.

I've also had a theory about the browser launch system. Maybe they are forcing people to launch from BL so that they can test BL under heavy usage.
I only say this as they have reiterated that the beta was only rolled out on such a large scale so that they could test their servers, not the game itself.
And they wanted to be sure that people actually used BL, hence forcing people to load from it.

Huh I also read it will "probably" be available on Steam. Not sure if it doesn't include Origin either way, though! Ubisoft managed to force people into using the crappy Ubi Launcher even for the steam version of Assassins Creed.. so if EA are similar stupid (they are) they'll probably force you to use Origin even with Steam.. If only there was some reliable information on this damnit. If there's no Origin for the Steam version, and if the Steam version is really coming I will also cancel my preorder.

Honestly though, this game is fantastic.
It looks absolutely glorious on ultra settings, and is far better than the beta.
In spite of the moronic sever browser/menu system.

only downer, i just got the back to karkand maps and just one extra weapon. it's a M1911 with a silencer attached. amazon preorders will get much more stuff IIRC.

ok, for some reason my first registration did not work. i entered the nick i used in the firs registration and it was still available.
then i regestered again and it worked, login works. then i wanted to install BF3...guess what stupid origin is doing right now!?

it's fucking downloading the whole game, why did i buy a hard copy and why did i insert the DVD No.1 into my DVD drive, origin...WTF!?

EDIT: oh, so i have to open the origin preferences and fucking manually add the install data to origin.
it's still downloading but the transfer rate is 40MB/s so i guess it's "downloading" from the DVD...this is so damn stupid, i can't believe this shit.

Whoever designed the interface and menu needs to face public execution (streamed on the battle-log).

Someone better be able to mod it so that it has a main menu, LIKE EVERY OTHER PAID FOR FUCKING PC GAME EVER.
