The real reason arguements with QR fans havent broken out is because they are all old and don't use computers

bwahahahaha...great one. :D

yeah, the only band they've toured with (in the states anyway) that had a pretty even response from fans of the other band playing was (once again showing how godly this lineup was) Blind Guardian. Seriously, almost ever BG fan I met at the shows I went to either was already into SymX or was turned onto SymX to the point of becoming a real actual fan of the band. This is why I maintain that it was the best band SymX has ever opened for. while the QR tour is definately bringing them to bigger crowds, the actual percentage of that crowd that either already dug SymX or became SymX fans after seeing them was probably larger for the BG tour.

I love both bands and they were both FUCKING GREAT last night in Sayreville. One of the best shows I've ever seen.

SX's setlist

Inferno
Wicked
Evolution
Communion
Awakenings
Sea of Lies
Of Sins and Shadows

and the comment about QR fans being too old to use computers was pretty dumb.

Queensryche absolutely blew them away, that's all there is to say. If you didn't think so, you either a) blindly worship Symphony X or b) are 18 years old. Or probably both.

Sorry, but since you paid $60 or so for 5 songs, and then left for the BETTER band, I can only assume you're an absolute moron. There's no other explanation.

Mark - has pissing off other fans been your goal lately? You keep saying how old and mature you are, yet you sound like a teenager. And you are wrong, too. Guess what - I'm neither (a) or (b) from your list, but I think SX was a better band of the two. The only problem with their set is that it was too damn short! Not only they were better musically (well don't get me started) but IMO they sounded better, too.

QR was OK I suppose, but they are just too boring for me. I've seen them several times and got bored each time. The acoustic set was just plain boring - I felt like leaving, but I knew that the Mindcrime set was coming, so I stayed and I'd say Mindcrime set was quite good, almost made up for yawning through the first half of the set. And here's another thing - the "better band" released only 1 really good album, and we are talking 15 years ago. I think I've made my point.

Just remember, had it not been for bands like QR there probably wouldn't BE bands like Symphony X around today... All those "old guys" pretty much started the genre along with bands like Fates Warning.

**sigh**

Kids today...

:bah:

GK,

- There was no acoustic set last night in NJ. The first half of the set also included NM 156 and Screaming in Digital. I can understand not liking the newer stuff, but they played some rockin stuff from those albums.

- O: M is not their only "really good" album. Warning, Rage, Empire and Promised Land are all PHENOMENAL from start to finish, IMO. Also, calling O: M "really good" is laughable. It's one of the best metal albums ever made.

As I said, both bands were awesome last night. If you want to say SX is more musically talented, I don't think anyone's really going to argue that with you. That's not really what music is about though. It's a combination of both talent and songwriting to me. Both bands are strong in both categories, and that's why they're BOTH among my favorite bands ever.

Well call me crazy but I don't like QR songwriting. Can't explain why - they music just doesn't do anything for me. While I enjoy SX's music, along many other great bands, QR just sounds OK and that's about it. Mindcrime is an expception of course. No need to argue thou - to each their own, and we are here because we are SX fans!

Symphony X owned. They are close to the best band in the world. "Queens of the worst music age ever" sucked my asshole. We left mad early, although the people smokin pot in the stands was pretty cool...

Well, I paid $120 for four tickets to see Symphony X play six songs the first night in Chicago. And did I stick around for Queensryche? Hell no. I remember when I had to stand through their boring 90-minute set last year just to see Dream Theater get on stage.

Every member of Symphony X has a one up on their respective members in Queensryche (technically). Now, do I think seeing six Symphony X songs for $120 is worth it? Absolutely, because they're my favorite band...and because I got to hear Church Of The Machine and Awakenings for the first time in almost two years.

Don't come on this board spreading your message of how much you think Queensryche kicks Symphony X's ass. Seriously, man, that's as immature as a metal fan tearing up the N'Sync boards...it's just stupid.
Where did I "tear" on Symphony X? I had nothing but positive to say about them. You're clearly reading comprehension challenged, but thanks.

Yes, that's my "goal."

I'll let your statement about the "better band" releasing "only 1 really good album" stand on its own volition and speak volumes about your knowledge here. Cheers.

I asked nicely once, now I'm telling you..lose the insults or you'll be removed.

Mark is just being Mark. I don't really think he's said anything worth banning him for. Besides, banning him won't help. He clearly has access to a time machine, and is capable to travel back to the late 80s when QR was the better band. If you ban him, he'll simply use his time machine, and remove the ban. He's evil I tell you. Evil!

As for the show, SX's sound (from where I was sitting) was horrid. This being the sixth time I've seen them, it was the worst their sound has ever been. I think their sound guy was drunk and coked up. The band was tight... they're always tight. Russell sounded real strong.

The highlight of the entire evening was QR's "Mindcrime" set. Other than that, QR was very, very dull. Their set list clearly shows (as if their music didn't) that they're out of touch. Do they really think someone wants to hear "I am I" over "Walk in the Shadows" or "Take Hold of the Flame"? I can understand playing the new music (I use the term music loosely), but why play anything from "Hear in the Crap Frontier" or "Q2Crap"? Mindless. Oh well.

The rules are pretty plainly stated, & the forum is run as the band wishes. There are plenty of forums out there where being insulting is allowed, but this isn't one of them; he and anyone else who feel the need can go elsewhere if they want to behave that way; it won't be tolerated here.

Removed?

How's this, I'm TELLING you to give me one good reason. I can very easily discuss this with InsideOut if it makes you happy. I can even discuss it with Mike & Russell if you want, since promoting their albums through reviews & interviews has been something Royal Carnage (me specifically) have done in the past. Please refrain from abusing your oh-so-mighty moderator "powers," mmmkay? Thanks.

hummm.."tear" on Symphony X specifically. Let's see what you originally posted: "Queensryche absolutely blew them away, that's all there is to say. If you didn't think so, you either a) blindly worship Symphony X or b) are 18 years old. Or probably both." Nope, you didn't specifically mention that Sym X sucks or anything like that, however you did manage to state your opinion as if it were fact. Perhaps an "IMHO" would have made a bit more sense. It's the internet ya know. Opinions and assholes are quite abundant. Sure the IMHO is an execrcise in redundancy, but it's oft necessary for the sake of clarity.

Since I am not a blindy 18 year old worshipping SymX fan, nor did I witness any of the shows from this leg of openers, I will proceed to step away from the rest of the discussion.

Oh and p.s. "IT'S NOT ABOUT YOU!!"

For sake of clarity. If your are going to quote, quote the entire statement. Partial lines can be twisted and taken out of context. Out of context things are the ones that tend to lead to rumors and rumors are like viruses.

Read the rules. They're all the reasons I need.

I can very easily discuss this with InsideOut if it makes you happy.
They have nothing to do with this forum, which is run the way Mike Romeo and the band have chosen for it to be run.

I can even discuss it with Mike & Russell if you want, since promoting their albums through reviews & interviews has been something Royal Carnage (me specifically) have done in the past.
  Go right ahead if it makes you feel better. They're the ones who've decided the rules for the forum, not me. I'm just doing my job here as they have asked me to, so whining at them about rules they chose for this place isn't going to do you any good.

Please refrain from abusing your oh-so-mighty moderator "powers," mmmkay? Thanks.
As I said, I'm just doing my job here, which I do not have to defend to you. I don't answer to you..I answer to Mike Romeo..and he is quite happy with how I do my job. The fact remains..you'll be removed if you continue to break the rules, mmmkay? Thanks.
