Is it just me, or are Opeth's album covers all so fucking gloriously wondrous and pleasing to thy eye?

All of them, from the delicate, pink orchid of "Orchid" to the distorted, golden candles and smoke of "Ghost Reveries".

Personally, I love the "Morningrise" cover. It's so majestic- the reflection of the building in the lake...anyone know what kind of structure/building that is? Seems strange to build such a thing in the middle of the woods near a lake...but it's lovely.

It's definitely not only you who thinks like that...;-)
BTW:The back of "Blackwater Park" is awesome.

yes, I realize it's a bridge, but it seems as if it might serve some other purpose...other than being a landmark of beauty...I don't know...
perhaps Opeth like to have their meetings there. :err:

The building in question is the Palladin bridge in Prior Park, Bath, England.

it's very obvious you are american ... since such buildings in woody areas, near a lake, are not at all strange in europe ... oh well, go find some books about architecture from the 16th century till the 19th or so, especially about parcs and stuff ... you'll be amazed (if you like that sort of stuff) ...

isn't it wonderful how european culture never stops to amaze you americans :p ... albeit mostly in ways that most americans don't realize ...

@Rahan: haha, Leffe is great ;) ... all Belgian beer is :p

Yeah, all their covers are amazingly beautiful. I'm particularly fond of the MAYH cover, I just love the colours.

I think that all of the covers are great, especially the ones Travis Smith did. Travis Smith is an awesome artist who has done some really cool stuff for Opeth and others.

I never realised it was in Bath. Might go there soon to check it out

Been to a very similar bridge at Wilton but Im gonna head down to bath to see the real thing some time too...

Yeah, how disappointed would you be to see a "typical" metal cover on an Opeth CD? Pentagrams, devils, cartoon imagery... Imagine if they had a mascot, like Eddie for Iron Maiden, that had to somehow make it onto the cover every time. It gets old.

BTW...perhaps off topic, but does anyone else think Maiden's covers have gone really downhill?

Is it?! Well i never knew that!Thats only a couple of hours away from me then haha!

Personally the first 3 album covers do nothing for me. Ghost Reveries has the best overall but it's not fitting with the music. Still Life has the best fitting cover work imo.

dance of death is such a photoshop/poser job that i could have done it.

I remember when it was annonced on their website, I seriously thought it was a joke.

I'd have to say that Morningrise has my favorite cover, also the picture in the BWP booklet that has the guys standing in the woods, I thought that was pretty cool too.
